I'm at ep. 6 of the live action and I think it's better than it has any right to be. The casting is excellent and the main cast manages to capture the heart and soul of the anime characters. Big chops also to the fact that they managed to get about 60 episodes down into 8 episodes without it feeling too rushed.
Some of acting of the support cast is downright bad and the first episode I feel was more then a little rough, but after that it got its footing and now it just leans into the absurdity and ridiculousness of it without losing its heart. I'm just purely enjoying it at this point.

10.16.23 | It's great. IMO Nico Robin has one of the most wonderfully executed self-sacrifice sadgirl stories in anime. Really good character to balance the aloofness of the whole show imo.
Also some of the scenes in the 2nd half of Enies Lobby are such a wicked middle finger to the world government. Idk if you're at the sniper king scene yet with the world flag but when you see it's probably the single best callout in the show so far. |

01.15.24 | Hell yeah, the end of Impel Down and all the shit with Whitebeard is *so fucking good* I'm actually just a bit past that, i'm at like episode 547 watching this all through for the first time, I hear a lot of arguments for reading vs watching but honestly I don't care how slow it is, I love having something like this I can keep coming back to and I'm not in a hurry to get through it all. It's such a big sprawling colorful world and the fights are so fun to watch play out, holding a lil manga book and squinting at the lil panels trying to figure out what's happening in the more action oriented bits feels infinitely lesser.
This arc has been a bit slow, the fisher tiger flashback absolutely went on for too long but I'm finally getting out of that and moving on. Water7/Ennie's lobby still best arc. |

I like how he feels like a villain who's goals were actually fully realized and henceforth it makes his power much more deeply layered than simply a busted ass devil fruit (even if his power is deceptively broken lol). |

03.13.24 | Sabaody is an extremely important arc for how short it is, literally the keystone turning point of the show and extremely influential regarding building upon the history of the One Piece world. Also I love Punk Hazard lmao, it's actually a deceptively important arc too since it's the catalyst for everything that happens in Dress Rosa as well as introducing the SMILE factories which is kinda what indirectly causes all the conflict with Big Mom and Kado. Also lol at Big Mom backstory somehow being the most impressively tragic thing in all of One Piece without even trying as hard to be. |
