Albums you should listen to (in my humble opinion)

Basically, just a list of my favorite albums.
1Neat Beats
Cosmic Surgery

Trip Hop at its finest. I know, objectively speaking, that this album is by no means perfect or consistent throughout, but emotionally I immediately connected to it. Expect retro hip hop drum loops, some awesome vocal sampling, and beautiful piano/string parts. Overall, an unexpectedly heartwarming album.
2Neutral Milk Hotel
In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

Fuzz-folk with some seriously heavy instrumentation and emotional impact.
3Gold Panda
Lucky Shiner

Some downtempo electronic music with an Eastern twist, or at least what I perceive to be an Eastern twist. Who knows? Either way, cool stuff.
4Kashiwa Daisuke
Program Music I

Over an hour of a unique blend of post-rock, electronic bleeps and bloops, and classical music. It only consists of two songs, each over 20 minutes, but don't let that stop you from checking this out.
5Interpol
Turn on the Bright Lights

Dark and moody, yet emotionally fulfilling, indie rock.
6Animal Collective
Feels

Created by acclaimed experimental pop/noise pop band Animal Collective. Some really strange but cool sounds and effects on this album. If nothing else, check out Loch Raven and Grass, which, in my opinion, are the best songs on the album, for entirely different reasons.
7Kendrick Lamar
To Pimp a Butterfly

You've likely listened to this one if you're a hip-hop fan, but if not, definitely check it out Easily some of the best socially conscious hip hop to come out in the last decade. In addition to excellent lyrical content, the instrumentals are a phenomenal blend of jazz, hip-hop, and funk.
8Open Mike Eagle
Dark Comedy

Alternative Hip-Hop act Open Mike Eagle absolutely delivers, giving the listener 44 minutes of witty, humorous, and satirical lyrical content. If you're at all into anti-rap, absolutely check out this album, as well as anything created by other members of the Hellfyre Club.
