Wrest's newest release is twisted, an unnerving and unsettling experience. The vocals are disgusting in a way that still manages to be mysterious(see Dawn Vibration), and menacing. Whitehead's work behind the kit also deserves a nod for being creative, and downright weird at times(Gardens of Coprolite). All around a great example of experimentation that still feels distinctly black metal.

You, Whom I Have Always Hated

This is a collaboration that actually lived up to what I envisioned in my mind's ear. Thou and The Body were already making some of the best sad sludge music around, but together they weave an album that is equal parts bleak and punishing.
