Machine Head Ranked
Spent the week before New Years doing a deep dive into all of Machine Head's albums, figured I'd ranked them from worst to best. |
10 | | Machine Head Supercharger
Despite a strong start this album eventually settles into a very meh standard and never rises above that. Plus it's easily the band's least interesting album musically. |
9 | | Machine Head Catharsis
The internet and this website swears that this album is the worst thing ever, but I don't see it. It's a poor follow-up to what came before but I don't think it's as bad as people say. There is still interesting ideas and songs found on the album. |
8 | | Machine Head The Burning Red
A noticeable step down from the previous two albums but not at all a band album. Love the nu metal influence in some of the songs. Just wish it had better production and mixing. |
7 | | Machine Head Burn My Eyes
Not a bad album, it's raw and heavy as hell, but I just feel it drags in some points. |
6 | | Machine Head Through the Ashes of Empires
A solid early 2000s groove metal metal album. Starts with one of the band's best songs and closes with one of their best closing tracks. |
5 | | Machine Head The More Things Change...
To me this album is a marked improvement over the debut album. Feels more focused, has better atmosphere and the performances are better overall. |
4 | | Machine Head Of Kingdom and Crown
This feels like the album the band should have released after B&Ds. A solid return to the sound and style the band had perfected from 2003-2014. |
3 | | Machine Head Bloodstone and Diamonds
Maybe I'm biased towards this album because it was my first MH album, but I've always loved this album and feel it's gets overlooked. Some of the band's best guitar solos are on this album. |
2 | | Machine Head Unto the Locust
Builds upon the foundation set by the previous album brilliantly and if not for the final two songs not being as strong as the first five, I'd consider it a perfect album. |
1 | | Machine Head The Blackening
It feels cliched to put this album as number one, but I feel this album deserves all the hype it gets. It is easily the band's best work. All killer, no filler. |
