Big into second wave type stuff too, but i’m a bit picky because i know the major releases, and find the remainder of those bands to be some of the most basic slop ever. |

- Gallowbraid - Ashen Eidolon. It's close to Agalloch, but less desolate.
- Thy Worshiper - Czarna Dzika Czerwień. Some off-putting folk bm.
- Morthar - 10 Commandments. Heavily inspired by early bm; I compared the overall sound to Freezing Moon in my review but its main quality is just being tight and pissed.
- The latest Asteriae fits the grandiose category to a degree. It's bm/post-metal/hardcore with a really desperate atmosphere. |

12.30.25 | @hawks idk, I think the production on the new one is fantastic, and the vocals have a lot of power behind them. Good Opeth-like songwriting with a psychedelic / purposefully eldritch atmosphere. The first album has a lot of good riffs, but everything feels a bit stretched. Too many repetitions with riffs, standard meloblack sounding stuff.
