Work is kiling my soul, mane
Yo so here what's up: i've been planning on moving out of the country for a while now (currently living in brazil), but my older job and my financial situation didn't cut it, so i needed to make some changes: Mainly, movin out of my apt to a shared one with a roomy and getting a better paying job. Problem is shit's fucking killing me. It's double the hours (7AM to 5 PM with an hour long break from 1PM to 2PM) for just 1/5th the extra money, and it's a soul-sucking, repetitive, burocratic desk job. i've only been at it for 2 months but already feeling kinda depressed. I am always tired, never want to meet with nobody, only thing i do after leaving work is eat and sleep. I need some advice from people in my situation how you deal with this shit, should i take up yoga or sumn?
Beat Down Babylon
Sex, Drugs, and Rock n' LOL
comedy shit helps
i dunno if this helps, but i fucking love Foodman lol
Fuck burocracy for ever
fuck a job sell crack
its so situational man. depends on what type of person you are, and what the boundaries of the job are, goals, etc etc. I'm a "work to live" type person so having a soul crushing job that encroaches on my ability to even properly enjoy my free time is not good news. I also have a history with GAD and MDD and those things tend to get very bad when I'm working a job I hate. but the thing is, the last job that I hated that I had, had a very high ceiling for me. I was miserable and it exasperated one of the worst MDD episodes of my life, but it also allowed me to climb the ladder and once I left it helped me land where I am today with a job I enjoy and being much more diversified and skilled in my field, paid much better, treated much better, etc etc. so all things considered it was worth it.
Weigh it out. Is the job getting you closer to your goal? Is the difference in pace towards your goal substantial enough that its worth the grief? How long will you have to do it to reach that goal? If this job makes you hate your life every morning and just want to eat and sleep in your free time and you are miserable, and the potential for this to be a temporary means to progress towards your goal isn't great enough to offset those feelings at all, it might not be right.
make a gay ol pros and cons list and really work it over out loud, thats a tough place to be and I hope you make the best choice for yourself.
nah fuck that sell crack
Sounds like you went from a part time (22.5 hr/wk) job to a full-time (45 hr/wk) job.
I’m with ya man. I’m sat at a desk at 0110 in the bastard morning on a Sunday cos of filing job stuff.
Total bollocks of a job that pays my way but corrodes my soul......I’d happily do it in Brazil though
Brasil 🇧🇷 >
ive never had an office job... but i have had miserable labor jobs... worst job ive ever had was packing apples at a shipping factory... fucking miserable bullshit corrodes your brain
Welcome to life
Do what you gotta do man
Right, that’s the filing done now to pour petrol on the fucking lot.
I'm sorry mate.
The good news is, you have already recognized that this job is making you feel like shit. Some people don't even realize that their job is awful for years.
So saying that you have some options. I don't know your situation, or what employment is like in Brazil, so my suggestions might not be that useful.
If possible you should start looking for another job, get out of this one if you can.
Now if you can't leave the job, or the job is going to lead to better things in the future, you need to start focusing on life outside of work. For me i exercise a lot and that helps. After exercising i feel more sociable and forget about some of the shittyness of work.
Also study helps. Learn some shit that you find interesting or might help you with your career. There are free courses online now in almost anything.
Last bit of advice, listen to some good music and tell us all about what you are digging.
The corporate lifestyle will slowly suck the soul out of you.
why don't you shop around for other similar paying jobs while at your current one? maybe you'll be able to find something else that pays decently that you'll enjoy more. if not, it's really a balancing act: either you push through, with your goal in mind, and knowing that your current situation is going to be transient, or you settle for a lesser paying job that's more conducive to your mental health. i think it's also important to know what your shattering point looks like. what i mean is, i hope that, if things decline further, that you're able to determine the point at which you need to make a change before any sort of serious mental decompensation occurs.
Hey man, retail sucks horribly. For the state of your mental health I would advise getting the hell out of your current workplace. I know managing finances can be a bitch though, for everybody. So if you find yourself locked in and stuck with your current job, I would suggest getting your frustrations out on the weights at your local gym. I just recently got a membership for Planet Fitness and Ive been feeling better than ever after my workouts. Strongly suggest it my man. Hope you find your way out of this slump.
Rock n' LOL
working out is cool and all, but i dunno if it sits well with my "being a sack of shit" aesthetic
