Good shit May 2022

Just a list of the stuff I've listened to over the course of the past month that I wanted to recommend. Please note I am terrible at describing music
1Il Giardino Onirico
Apofenia

Amazing prog record courtesy of this year's tourney. It's heavy, melodic, grandiose, and just a wonderful listen from start to finish.

genre: crossover prog
2Otoboke Beaver
SUPER CHAMPON

The 4 piece japanese hardcore punk band strikes again! This album is a brisk 20 minutes of adrenaline, sarcasm, and anger. It's great

genre: hardcore punk, riot grrl,
3Circus
Movin' On

Another gem from the tail end of 2022's prog tourney. I am a sucker for flutes in prog, and that comes a plenty in this obscure gem courtesy of MrSirLordGentleman

genre: eclectic prog
4Donald Byrd
Ethiopian Knights

This record may end up becoming an all time favorite of mine. Ethiopian Knights is a vibe, a powerful one at that. The meat of this record comes in the tracks "The Emperor" and "The Little Rasti" which combined make 30 minutes of some of the most powerful funk I've ever heard.

genre: jazz-funk
5Manu Dibango
Soul Makossa

Straight out of Cameroon comes another jazz-funk masterpiece. Soul Makossa is bubbling with energy and it combines the fixings of african tribal music with those of jazz funk, to a wonderful effect

genre: jazz-funk, makossa
