My Favorite Albums.

Albums that either got me through difficult times, or that I just really like.
1Circa Survive
Violent Waves

I was an avid Circa fan when this came out, and had already met Anthony Green by this point. I got the album the day it came out, expecting it to be good, but I was completely blown away before the first song even ended. I also changed a lot as a person around the time this came out. I saw Circa Survive three times (four in May) JUST during the tour cycle for this album.
2Alexisonfire
Watch Out!

I lost my mom to cancer in December 2013. That week, I was on a pretty huge Alexisonfire kick, and I listened to this album almost non-stop. It helped me feel a little better the night she died.
3Mastodon
The Hunter

Not too long after it came out, my mom bought this for me at Target, saying she knew I was into metal, and she had heard it was pretty good. I hadn't heard anything by Mastodon yet, but I was amazed by this album, and it quickly became my favorite. Actually, the kind of sound on this album was a massive influence my own musical projects.
4The Dear Hunter
The Color Spectrum

Same as #2, even though this was a bunch of EPs. I listened to the entire thing over the period of those few days I mentioned earlier.
5Baroness
Yellow and Green

I saw Baroness at one of the very first shows after their bus accident. The show was in a really tiny bar, that has gone out of business since the show. I got to have a pretty nice conversation with Pete and John about how 2012 and 2013 seemed to be really shitty years for just about everyone, and how we all hoped 2014 would be much better. Yellow and Green is one of my favorite albums of all time.
6Toxik
Think This

Listened to this on a bus trip from Virginia to Florida. My school band had a five day field trip to Disney World. I ended up getting food poisoning the day we arrived to Orlando. So the whole trip, I spent my time at the parks throwing up into bushes and trash cans, listening to this on my iPod. The bassist for Toxik came to one of my old band's rehearsals, and we talked about the reunion and I played some Toxik songs on drums for him. I'm pretty stoked about the reunion and their upcoming album. Supposedly, it comes out this year.
7Clutch
Earth Rocker

Bought this album the day it came out, as I was just getting in to Clutch. Damn, this album is awesome. I actually prefer it to Blast Tyrant. I saw Clutch on this tour at a show at some amusement park. There couldn't have been more than 200 people in the crowd. I couldn't help but think of the rock concert level in Left 4 Dead 2. Hahaha.
8I Am the Avalanche
Avalanche United

Their newest album, Wolverines just came out yesterday, so I'm letting it sink in a bit. I saw IATA at the same show that I saw Clutch, only there were only about 25 people watching them. Before and after the show, I hung out with Vinnie. We were both really confused as to why there was a closed off, twenty foot space between the band and the crowd, later to find out it was the VIP pit for Clutch, I went in there to watch them.
9Razor
Custom Killing

Razor were one of the first thrash bands I got into when I was a freshman in high school. (I'm a junior now). "Last Rites" is still my favorite Razor song, if not my favorite thrash song.
10Rush
Moving Pictures

It might sound a little cliché, but this is the album that inspired me to play drums when I was like five years old.
