Ironmaidenology

The Iron Maiden records in order of preference.
15Iron Maiden
Virtual XI

The album probably was well meant, and Bayley did all he could, but he cannot save an uninspired band. Nevertheless, the album is half good. Best Song: "The Clansman"
14Iron Maiden
The X Factor

Half the album is good, but the band seems to have lost it's way. Best Song: "Sign of the Cross"
13Iron Maiden
Dance of Death

A good album, but certainly a dull one at times. Possibly the weakest of the comeback albums. Not bad, but not a great album. Best song: "Wildest Dreams"
12Iron Maiden
No Prayer for the Dying

While this is a good album, it lacks the punch of the earlier records. Best Song: "Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter"
11Iron Maiden
The Final Frontier

The album is certainly a major grower. While ultimately it's doomed to be inferior to the classic Maiden records, it's nevertheless more organic-sounding than the other comeback albums. Best Song: "The Alchemist"
10Iron Maiden
A Matter of Life and Death

A nice album from the comeback era. Dull at times, but still a fine recording. Best Song: "Brighter Than a Thousand Suns"
9Iron Maiden
Brave New World

A fine comeback of sorts. It's definitely not a glorious return, but it's still quality by Maiden standards. Best Song: "Blood Brothers"
8Iron Maiden
Killers

The second and last album with Paul Di Anno. Overall, it pretty much set a template for the Dickinson Era. Best Song: "Wrathchild"
7Iron Maiden
Iron Maiden

The band's major debut. Not as memorable as the Dickinson albums, but still worthwhile in it's own right. Best Song: "Iron Maiden"
6Iron Maiden
Fear of the Dark

Nowhere as great as the "Golden Five", but still a fine album. Best song: "Fear of the Dark"
5Iron Maiden
Powerslave

It might well be my least fave of the great Maiden albums, yet it stands well enough on it's own with some undisputed classics. a pity the album doesn't flow through as easily as the others IMO. Best Song: "2 Minutes to Midnight"
4Iron Maiden
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son

IMO, the album has more strengths lyrically than it does musically. Nevertheless, it's on it's own a classic, and the last truly great Maiden album.
3Iron Maiden
The Number of the Beast

This album kicks so much ass!!! The start of the Dickinson Era. Best song: "The Number of the Beast"
2Iron Maiden
Somewhere In Time

The runner-up. Not the most original of albums, but still has some amazing songs. Best song: "Alexander the Great"
1Iron Maiden
Piece of Mind

FTW!!!! The best Maiden album!!! Nothing after it can top it!!! Best Song: "Flight of Icarus"
