The Ranking Of Jew

My personal ranking for Jimmy Eat World's albums, least favourite to favourite.
7Jimmy Eat World
Chase This Light

Truly awful release. "Always Be" is half-decent and that's about it. This is Jim Adkins at his worst. Annoying, whiny, repetitive and sounding a lot more immature than he should - and that all goes for the album too. 4/10

Futures

Never got the hype for this release. Not as talked about as Clarity, but Clarity's better so that's fair enough. It still gets a bit more attention then it deserves. Some songs are fantastic, like "Pain", "Polaris" and "23", but some are quite boring. 7/10

Jimmy Eat World

This self titled album is incredibly over-looked and under-rated. It's not smart, it's barely clever, it's not technical and it's not well produced - but it's generally pure fun. Hearing great musicians this early in their lifespan is quite hilarious. Most of the songs are generally above average though, and some are rough masterpieces. 7.5/10

Static Prevails

Jim Adkins is the better songwriter, but Tom Linton is the superior singer, and he really shows it off here. Powerful, crushing, and emotional. A close contender for third/second place. 9/10

Clarity

Invented was sort of a greater sequel to this. Very VERY close behind Bleed American. Very soft and cohesive, flowing the whole time, but some songs are just boring ("Ten", "Crush", "Your New Aesthetic"). Made up for by some of their best, "Lucky Denver Mint", "Blister" and "Goodbye Sky Harbor". The tiniest bit over-rated though. 9/10

Bleed American

Not a single bad song on here, though some get close to "meh" territory. Fun to listen to, at times quite introspective ("Hear You Me") and overall, one of the best clap-hands tap-feet sing-along albums ever created. Pop-punk at its best. 9/10

Invented

Purely, music at its creative peak. Heartfelt, warming, a good sense of when to be loud and when to be soft, and plainly fucking awesome. Also contains Jim Adkins at his best. Title track is one of their best songs, and generally it is one of the best albums. EVAR. 10/10
