| Krazytom's 5 Best Power Metal Albums Of All Time
Going through lists of my favorite genres, and Power Metal is up first, rget ready to get epiiiiic | 6 | | Angra Temple of Shadows
An honorable mention goes to Brazils finest in Angra with this underrated
gem. Some great drum and guitar work on an album that almost gets
caught up in the cheesiness of modern power metal (Sonata Arctica, later
Stratovarius) while still keeping things awesome | 5 | | Helloween Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt. 1
A real classic of the genre, one that wouldn't be complete without this
album. A little dated and rough, but leaps and bounds a head in terms of
epicness, I'm Alive is the sole reason I chose this album over Pt. 2 | 4 | | Iced Earth Burnt Offerings
As I listen to this album now (what inspired me to write this list), I am just
blown away by the ass-kickery of Jon Schaffer's sound, truly this band's
highest point. This album just screams metal, from its heavy/fast riffs to its
dark lyrics. Dante's Inferno will forever remain one of the greatest epics in
Power Metal History | 3 | | Kamelot Epic/Black Halo
So I'll be cheating on these next slots, (this one less so since the album's
concepts continue off each other), but its my list so shut up. From the
operertic vochal styles to the drown right mesmerizing guest appearences
(Shagrath on March of Mephisto is one of metals greatest guest spots, truly
a demon incarnate this man is) and some amazing riffs on songs like Center
of the Universe, When the Lights are down, Serenade. And amazing vocals
on Abandoned and Morning after, Kamelot made their careers with these
two albums | 2 | | Symphony X V: The New Mythology Suite/The Divine Wings of Tragedy
Ok so I really cheated on this one, I simply just can't decide between these
two. Micheal Romeo and Russell Allen just sore through the heavens on
guitar (Of Sins and Shadows, Sea of Lies, Evolution) and vocals (songs like
Egypt, Pharoah, Out of the Ashes, and the Accolade) on both discs. And
The sheer epicness and scale of Divine Wings title track boggles the mind. | 1 | | Blind Guardian Imaginations From the Other Side
If I was a weaker man I would just have made this a list soley of Blind
Guardian albums, the band that perfected Power Metal. Hansi's voice is so
perfect for this band and its style, its insane. This album brings such
energy and intensity to the genre of power metal. And the story ends
could very well be their greatest song ever. Rounded out by the title track,
I'm alive, and Script for my Requiem. This album has it all, and truly my
favorite power metal album of all time | |
