Favorite Guitar Players

My favorite guitar players (as of today)
1Steve Vai

Currently my #1 guitarist, and it seems hard to get him down from said spot. While there may be others more knowledgeable, or quicker, or in any other way above him, there can be only one STEVE VAI!!!
2Eric Johnson

One of my all-time favorite guitarists. Johnson's usage of blues influence gives his tone an extra-special touch.
3Joe Satriani

The god, the one and only. The Satchman is, simply put, one of the most innovative, creative and fun-to-listen-to guitar players out there.
4Greg Howe

A highly underrated guitarist, Howe's beautiful, intricate melodies are really worth checking out. While he's no shredder, his solos are just, amazing.
5Ed Wyenn

The guitarist for Ozric Tentacles. He's very impressive indeed, and carries out a major role in the band's music. Amazing performances overall.
6Marty Friedman/Dave Mustaine

Megadeth's most memorable guitar combo. Friedman's epic leads and Mustaine's epic riffs make for a powerful force indeed.
7Glen Tipton/K. K. Downing

The duo that established the twin guitar attack concept. Tipton's epic leads and Downing's epic riffs foreshadowed may other such combos.
8Mike McCready/Stone Gossard

Pearl Jam's guitar players are often overshadowed, yet their talents have shone on various ocassions (especially on the band's 1st album). McCready's solos are simply epic, and well complimented by Gossard's riffs.
9Carlos Santana

Possibly my fave guitarist from the 70's. His tone is impeccable, and he had an influence on several later guitarists who would go on to win fame as virtuosos.
10John McLaughlin

One of the great jazz fusion guitarists. MacLaughlin's command of the guitar is extremely difficult to match, and he proved influential to the "Guitar Virtuoso" genre.
11Mike Bloomfield

Holy cow!!! This guy is amazing!!! Forget everything you knew about the blues, this guy is just plain epic!!! Perfect tone, perfect soloing, little more to say.
12Trey Anastasio

Guitar player for Phish. Epic tone, epic solos, just awesomely exquisite.
