| Greatest Concert Ever
So this is a little late but I have nothing to do so I might as well talk
about the concert I saw at El Corazon in Seattle just over a month
ago. Converge headlined. Was my first hardcore/metalcore show
and holy god was it worth it. Weird fuckin' night but amazing also. | 1 | | Cascabel The Left Behinds EP
Local band who were the first opening act. Played a pretty awesome set,
vocalist was really good live, they had a lot of energy. There weren't a lot of
people at the venue at this time and nobody was really doing anything just
standing there and listening but whatever they were cool. So then I got
their studio shit and they are definitely much better live... Still cool though. | 2 | | Devotion Bastard Son of Affluence Blues
I was honestly waiting for Zach De La Rocha to jump out and start singing
the whole time. This band was really boring Cascabel kept on talking about
how dope they were so I was expecting these guys to smash their guitars
or something but they didn't. Vocalist sucked, and iirc they just sounded like
some lame hard rock band. | 3 | | Heiress This is where shit started to go down
So basically the only thing I had eaten that day was four hot wings and
spam musubi or some shit like that idk what it is but I had never tried it
before and needless to say it fucked my stomach up. At this point in the
night is where I realized why it was such a long fucking concert and why
there were six acts it was because there was some nigga named John
Pettibone who was having his 40th birthday that night and it was like this
big birthday party for him and shit and apparently he's been around in the
Seattle hardcore scene for like 15 years or something and he toured with
Botch and Converge and a bunch of other dudes and started a seminal
Seattle hxc band or something idk but it was tight anyway he was the
vocalist of this band it was cool to hear about his legacy and how all these
local bands came together to play his birthday. He said he tried to get a
Botch reunion going that night too but obvs that didn't happen. | 4 | | Black Breath Heavy Breathing
This band was fucking awesome. People made a pit and started going ape
shit when these dudes came on. The vocalist from Devotion was one of
their guitarists I think and they had mad energy and it was fucking
awesome but I spent this entire set by the door trying to get some air
because the faggots wouldn't let me back in if I left even if I literally just
took a half a step outside. The vibrations of the room were churning my
stomach and I thought I should throw up so I went to the bathroom to try
and throw up and that shit wasn't happening so I pulled the trigger and
went back out but my condition persisted so I went back in and did it again.
Needless to say I missed this entire set pretty much. Would definitely go to
one of their shows again though. | 5 | | Narrows Narrows / Heiress Split
It's fucking Dave Verellen but I missed most of this too being sick so fuck
that shit. After every song Dave would make some really retarded joke
about Pettibone but whatever he can do whatever he wants because he is
a Roman. | 6 | | Converge Axe to Fall
Definitely had to say fuck you to my stomach at this point because there
was no way I was missing Converge. Before this show Converge was one
of my favorite bands but after seeing them live holy fuck they are bar none
my favorite musical act of all time. Jacob Bannon is just a great dude, I
chatted with him a bit before and after the show and bought an ill tee from
him. For one of the most influential dudes in the genre, he's mad friendly
and humble. Anyways these guys raped face, the crowd went nuts at "Rats
Will Feast" and 'THIS IS FOR THE HEARTS STILL BEATING". I got kidney
punched twice by some faggot who probs thought he was at Emmure but
w/e it was Converge shit was awesome. Best show ever, so glad I saw
these guys as my first hardcore/metalcore show. More than worth the $12 I
spent on the ticket. Pettibone must have been on cloud nine I would kill to
have Converge play my birthday party, and it was just a really great night
to honor the dude. Good shit. | |

01.13.12 | Still remember the setlist I think:
Concubine
Dark Horse
Heartache
Hellbound
Lonewolves
Runaway
Bitter and Then Some
Reap What You Sow
Cutter
Worms Will Feed / Rats Will Feast
On My Shield
Axe to Fall
Wishing Well
Damages
First Light
Eagles Become Vultures
The Broken Vow
Drop Out
Last Light
Also they played a cover of something I forget what and Pettibone did the vocals instead of Jake.
