My Favourite Records

These are the records I have always been able to listen to again and again and have been inspired and amazed everytime.
1The Slits
Cut

Young, creative but not technically skilled women playing reggae with enduring vocal harmonies, biting satire and positive messages.
2Circle Jerks
Group Sex

To me this is the record I never wrote when I was aged 15-16, the music is pure aggression and wastes no time, while the lyrics tear through the teenage experience with wit, naivety and a touch of melancholy.
3 Upsetters
Blackboard Jungle Dub

The beginning of the remix as enduring music in its own right. Lee Perry's expansive soundscapes can take you anywhere, with soothing bass lines and jarring samples taking you on an amazing journey.
4Massive Attack
Mezzanine

The most uplifting, relaxing music one minute, and frightening melancholic paranoia inducing creeps the next. Such great music for anytime, with enduring thought provoking and short verses.
5Catch 22
Keasbey Nights

This record will always be very special to me, Thomas Kalkony's captivating, life affirming lyrics got me through some of the hardest times in my life. I can't help but sing along to so much of this record.
