Nostalgia!
Not all of these albums are the best, but they remind me of better rtimes/life changing times. |
1 | | Dream Theater Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From a Memory
This album totally changed my perspective from morbid to optimistic right after
the death of my 22 year old sister. Obviously this isn't one that brings back
good memories, but most definitely the most important ones. This is also the
first progressive album I truly loved. |
2 | | Metallica Metallica
Once again, I relate to this album because of someone who passed away in my
family very recently; my grandfather. He used to blast this album out of his car
whenever he drove me anywhere; very funny/fond memories. |
3 | | Metallica Kill 'Em All
I guess my family has a greater effect on my life than I realized...this was the
first FULL album I've ever heard, and that was in 1995 when I was five years
old. It was the only CD I had for about three years. |
4 | | Slipknot Slipknot
This was the album that got me into nu-metal, which also sort of got me into
bands other than Metallica. |
5 | | Pearl Jam Ten
Crash Bandicoot and Pearl Jam make up a very large portion of my elementary
school years. I still feel like crying whenever I listen to songs like Black,
Release, or Oceans. An incredible album that is still one of my all time favorites. |
6 | | Agalloch Ashes Against the Grain
I just really mean Falling Snow. It's not because I listened to this early on in
my life, but rather whenever I hear it, I can't help but reflect on my past while
simultaneously absorbing my present state. Sounds vague, but I don't know
how else to explain it. |
7 | | Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here
My father's favorite album of all time. I had a very hard time connecting to him
at a young age but now I'm very close with him. Listening to this record on
vinyl together and talking about music was probably the turning point in our
relationship. |
8 | | Limp Bizkit Three Dolla Bill Y'all
I used to listen to bad music. Shut up. |
9 | | Cannibal Corpse Tomb of the Mutilated
Very first death metal album I heard. Scared the living crap out of me and
totally got me out of the nu-metal phase. |
10 | | Dave Matthews Band Crash
My sister used to listen to this all of the time and I used to make fun of her
when I was in my "if it isn't metal, it sucks" phase. Strangely enough, I now
really love this. |
