10 Biggest Dissapointments By Bands I Enjoy Thus Far
1Cryptopsy
The Unspoken King

My favorite death metal band of all time. I know a lot of people don't like
DiSalvo, but I'll never understand why. Whisper Supremacy was pure genius,
and ...And Then You'll Beg, while not the best, is still pretty good IMO. Hell, I
even really liked Once Was Not (the return of Lord Worm!) which goes against
popular opinion. Imagine my dissapointment when one of the most brutal,
techinical, and intelligent death metal bands of all time decides to become
metal/emocore. I tried to like it for a long time, because admittedly not all
metalcore is horrible. But this is. This is worse than the worst Bullet for my
Valentine or Killswitch Engage album, IMO. No redeeming qualities. Nothing I
enjoy in music makes even the slightest appearance on this album. All of my
dreams have been shattered.
2Metallica
St. Anger

This is very obvious, so I won't even mention the laughable lyrics, overlong
simplistic songs that don't progress at all, Lars' "bangin' on a trash can the Doug
Funny" way and the lack of guitar solos...damnit, guess I just did. Back in
2002/2003, Metallica was one of my favorite bands. This album nearly made
me weep in horror (not the good kind).
3Morbid Angel
Illud Divinum Insanus

I actually didn't mind this album the first time I heard it. I think it's because I
was in shock. That's how not good this album is-I went into shock because I
couldn't handle the atrocity that is this album.
4Slayer
Diabolus In Musica

Damnit, damnit, damnit! Why nu metal? WHYYYYYYY!!?!?!? YOU'RE SLAYER,
DAMNIT!
5Megadeth
Risk

lol
6Fear Factory
Transgression

Love Archetype. After that I was really looking forward to this. Oh well, at least
they made up for it with Mechanize.
7Judas Priest
Nostradamus

So much hype...I expected greatness :(
8Devin Townsend
Devlab

This isn't a bad album, but my expectations are so high for Devin that it
shocked me that I wasn't absolutely in love with it. Probably the only album by
him I'm not totally in love with. Either way, still not horrible, but I thought it
was worth a mention.
9Dream Theater
Systematic Chaos

Though this is my favorite band of all time, I'm putting this disappointment
towards the end because it has it's moments (mainly the epic two-piece track).
As I just said, I am a massive Dream Theater fan and I had great expectations
for this album after Octavarium, which I thought was their best in years.
Instead I got a bunch of bad rip off songs that are annoying, and horrible shout
outs to Metallica, Muse and whatever else was on this incredibly mediocre
record. I also found myself agreeing with most of the naysayers that I usually
fought against. This album is the prime example of Dream Theater not being
able to write songs, but rather expecting to grab your attention through
obnoxious and random fret raping.
10Dave Matthews Band
Stand Up

When a jam band can even make these songs good live, you know it's bad.
