Spec
05.02.11 | I would dig that. |
NOTINTHEFACE
05.02.11 | Number one is total win. Lack of Mass Effect is total lose.
Am I the only one who thinks that Square not reproducing FF7 in current generation consoles is literally throwing gobs of money into a furnace? |
NOTINTHEFACE
05.02.11 | Never mind. I missed Mass Effect. Apologies. |
Masochist
05.02.11 | Shadow of the Colossus - 'Shadow of the Colossus'

Coheed and Cambria - 'Good Apollo, I'm Burning Phantasy Star IV...'

AngelofDeath
05.02.11 | "Am I the only one who thinks that Square not reproducing FF7 in current generation consoles is literally throwing gobs of money into a furnace?"
I certainly want it. They've hinted at it with that demo vid a while back, but it's looking bleak not having heard anything further by now. |
Masochist
05.02.11 | What I really want Square to do is a Chrono Trigger remake. |
pizzamachine
05.02.11 | they should |
MO
05.02.11 | Missing Resident Evil 2, Silent Hill, Contra...a couple others |
Samshine
05.02.11 | Oh, i see what you did there. Clever. |
omnipanzer
05.02.11 | Panzer Dragoon Saga ftw. |
Trebor.
05.02.11 | Resident Evil 4 is my favorite. |
taroo
05.02.11 | Great games on this list |
JamieTwort
05.02.11 | cool list |
anarchistfish
05.02.11 | Halo and Mass Effect are awesome.
I'd also put Just Cause, Assassin's Creed and Fallout 3. |
patman1001
05.02.11 | its missing the first 3 mortal kombats from the super nintendo, but goldeneye and super smash bros. melee are 2 of my favorites of all time. |
LepreCon
05.02.11 | 1 is 1 |
AngelofDeath
05.02.11 | Mortal Kombat 3 would make top 50, probs. |
AngelofDeath
05.02.11 | It was really hard to pick 25. I should have just made it 100, but I didn't want to think up 100 album puns lol. But I had to leave off so many great titles, like Legend of Dragoon, Breath of Fire 3, MK3, and Pokemon Yellow. |
acorncheese
05.02.11 | 24 FUCK YEAH |
NOISECORE
05.02.11 | WHERE THE HELL IS TIMESPLITTERS 2, THIS LIST IS UNACCEPTABLe. |
AngelofDeath
05.03.11 | lol |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | Some great stuff on here. |
whywontyoudie
05.03.11 | Time Splitters 2 was so excellent. oh my god i wish i still had a gamecube. |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | Anybody else like the old-school Turok games? |
whywontyoudie
05.03.11 | yeah |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | Newest one was aight, nothing special though. Turok 2 still is the best 13 years later. |
Trebor.
05.03.11 | Timesplitters Future Perfect is better. |
FatChickIrl
05.03.11 | Look at Me Now is such a good ass song
|
newjunkaesthetic93
05.03.11 | ah, I used to LOVE Halflife 2 |
AngelofDeath

patman1001
05.03.11 | oh god i used to play the shit out of some timesplitters 2...those were the days |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | A good, more recent game is Batman: Arkham Asylum. |
AngelofDeath
05.03.11 | Yeah, they finally made a Batman game that was actually good. Will probably never happen for Superman. Superman 64 may be one of the worst games ever made.
Beat Portal 2 Saturday. My advice to everyone: go buy it right away. Amazing. |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | Was thinking about acquiring that, though I never managed to beat the first Portal myself, though some of my friends played it all the time.
Can't comment on the Superman game as I never played it, though I doubt I want to.
Speaking of superhero games, I used to play the shit out of the Ps1 Spider-Man. |
AngelofDeath
05.03.11 | I was initially skeptical about it being worth its $60 price tag, but it's about three times as long as the original and the dialogue and plot line are great. |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | Anymore worthy punchlines I can beat to death along the lines of "the cake is a lie!!!" that will secure odd looks from my non-gaming friends? |
acorncheese
05.03.11 | "Speaking of superhero games, I used to play the shit out of the Ps1 Spider-Man."
if the same one was made for dreamcast, then me fucking too. |
AngelofDeath
05.03.11 | Yeah, I'd actually say GLaDOS is even funnier in this game. |
Trebor.
05.03.11 | Portal 2 was damn funny.
Those guys should write movies. |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | Sweet. I'm sold on Portal.
@ acorn I didn't know they had a Spidey game for Dreamcast. If it's the comic-bookey, Amazing Spider-Man type, than it's probabally the one. |
acorncheese
05.03.11 | yeah, this is it

05.03.11 | Chrono Trigger was remade for DS. I have it.

acorncheese
05.03.11 | i got dat chrono for super nintendo |
wittwright
05.03.11 | this list sums up my childhood, though I was pretty big into Banjo Kazooie as well
|
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | @ acorn yeah, that's the one.
Surprised no one's mentioned Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars yet. Big part of my early childhood gaming. |
acorncheese
05.03.11 | ^ that's one of my favorite games ever. have it for snes as well. |
AngelofDeath
05.03.11 | First console I got was a PS1, so I had to go back and revisit the earlier stuff when I got older. One year for Christmas I got a PS1, Final Fantasy VII, and Ridge Racer. Not bad coming from parents that still have absolutely no concept of gaming. But since then, I've played almost every noteworthy game ever made. At some point I'd like to get the book "1001 Video Games to Play Before You Die". |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | I haven't played it in so long. I think it's been a little over a decade, and I'm fairly certain I misplaced it, though I don't really remember what happened to it. |
tkxxx7
05.03.11 | Whoa, how old are you? |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | My mom digs Assassin's Creed, God of War, and the old Donkey Kong games. That's about all I remember though. There's still a shit ton of games I haven't played to this day like Chrono Trigger. |
AngelofDeath
05.03.11 | I'll be 22 on Saturday. Why do you ask? |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | I think he was reffering to me. I'll be 21 in September dude. |
tkxxx7
05.03.11 | I was referring to Angel. I ask because I thought you'd have to be pretty young for a PS1 to be your first console. |
AngelofDeath
05.03.11 | Yeah, a lot of people I know my age got an SNES first. I played a little SNES with friends early on, but the PS1 was my real introduction into gaming. I also got a Genesis shortly after the PlayStation and played a lot of Sonic, Golden Axe, Shinobi, etc. |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | Oh haha. Thought you were talking to me because of the Mario game for whatever reason. |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | I can't remeber if the Super or the "Regular" nintendo system as I called it back in the day was my first. I remember having both at roughly the same amount of time. |
acorncheese
05.03.11 | I'm pretty much exactly as old as SymbolicActs. My first console was NES when I was around 2/3. Moved on to Genesis when I was like 5/6. Then got N64 in like '98. Here's my console progression:
NES>Genesis/SNES>N64>Dreamcast>PS1>PS2>XBOX>Gamecube>360>Wii>PS3 |
AngelofDeath
05.03.11 | Actually, I take that back. It wasn't a Genesis I had. It was a Nomad. Most people nowadays probably don't even know what the fuck that is lol. It was a clunky hand-held that played Genesis games. Thing was as big as a toaster, but it kicked so much ass. Wish mine still worked; I'd sure as hell still use it. The Game Gear was awesome as well. Every Sega system is so underrated. They should've never gone under. |
tkxxx7
05.03.11 | I had the NES and SNES at the same time. got a Genesis and N64 later, followed by PS1, Dreamcast, Gamecube, Xbox, PS2, PC, 360. I play the ps3/wii at friend's houses so I don't get tooooooo far behind. |
acorncheese
05.03.11 | Nomad? I thought it was called GameGear? I had GameGear lol. It ruled. |
tkxxx7
05.03.11 | I played a Game Gear but Mortal Kombat pissed me off so I left it alone and went back to my GBA |
acorncheese
05.03.11 | EDIT: Looked it up, never knew there was a second Sega handheld. That thing looks boss. |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | Damn acorn, that's pretty much every non-handheld system. Scratch out the Wii, and the Sega and Microsoft systems for me. |
AngelofDeath
05.03.11 | Yeah, man, that shit got me through many a car and plane ride when I was a youngster.
I still need to get a PS3. I keep saying I'm going to get one and end up buying other shit. One day lol. |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | Does anybody know someone that got a Sega Saturn? Or got one themselves? |
acorncheese
05.03.11 | I don't even use my PS3 for anything aside from playing DVDs (not even bluray lol) and playing media from my computer. |
acorncheese
05.03.11 | I used to have a Sega Saturn. System was a failure for a good reason. That shit blew. |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | Yeah, I figured I didn't miss out on a whole lot. |
AngelofDeath
05.03.11 | Yeah, I knew some people that had Saturns. Excellent system. Very small catalogue of titles, though. I think their downfall may have been sort of releasing consoles between "gens". I always thought of the Dreamcast being a link in between the PS1/N64 and the PS2/GC/Xbox. |
tkxxx7
05.03.11 | I used to want all the Sega systems, Genesis, Saturn and CD (didn't want the handhelds for some reason).
I grew up on Pokemon and Final Fantasy and shit so I like handheld RPGs more than handheld anything else |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | @ angel In game magazines I've read, that was the reason given, and it makes sense to me. If they pushed it back a couple of years, it might not have gone down like that.
@ tk I loved me some Pokemon Red back then. |
IAmHollywood
05.03.11 | Clay Fighter
Pokemon Stadium
Pokemon Snap
Paper Mario |
acorncheese
05.03.11 | Monster Rancher series doesn't get enough love on this site. 1 and 2 are absolute classics. |
SymbolicActs
05.03.11 | Pokemon Snap, forgot about that one. Never played Monster Rancher myself. |
Baphomet
05.03.11 | I don't game that much anymore but
Starcraft, Starcraft II, Call of Duty MW, Zelda and Pokemon series... they're all pretty fucking good. |
acorncheese
05.03.11 | symbolic you should really pick up a copy of monster rancher 2 sometime |
MUNGOLOID
05.03.11 | still stuck on 20. fucking upside down castle. |
AngelofDeath
05.03.11 | It's a total bitch, for sure. |
MO
05.03.11 | "Turok 2 still is the best 13 years later."
up there for sure!! |
Masochist
05.03.11 | Mmm...Portal 2. Thinking about playing it again right now. So good!
Also, I meant a 3D remake of Chrono Trigger. I have the DS game...that's more like a port, though ( with some extra features thrown in). Still playing on it, too (New Game +) |
MO
05.03.11 | I'm convinced, going to buy Portal 2 after work. |
kanker
05.03.11 | Shadow of the Colossus
Limbo
Mass Effect
Bioshock
Half-Life 2
Super Metroid
Mafia
Pokémon G/S
Portal 2
Morrowind
the 10 best games of all time |
AngelofDeath
05.03.11 | Shadow of the Colossus, Bioshock, and Portal 2 are great but far from top ten material.
Also, the best Pokemon is Yellow. |
Nagrarok
05.03.11 | Classic games are classic. I lol'd a few times at the reworked album titles. 1 as 1 is always a good choice, completely maxed that game out. Pokemon Silver is probably still the one I played most. |
MO
05.03.11 | Loved 1, in my top 5 games no doubt |
AngelofDeath
05.03.11 | I think it may very well have been the first game I ever beat and was one of the first few games I ever played, so there's certainly a special nostalgia factor to it for me. Still obsessed with the game to this day lol. |
kanker
05.03.11 | "Also, the best Pokemon is Yellow."
Yellow is probably the worst of the RBY/GSC games... And it was the first pokemon game I played and finished, so I guess even the whole nostalgia thing can't save it for me. |
ConsiderPhlebas
05.03.11 | Morrowind was so damn good |
Trebor.
05.03.11 | 100 |
AngelofDeath
05.03.11 | How was Yellow the worst? |
Hyperion1001
05.03.11 | You guys ever play a game back on the original xbox called Otogi: Myth of Demons? One of my all time favorite games, it was so awesome. |
demigod!
05.04.11 | best list ever. so clever |
Emim
05.04.11 | Needs more SSB |
AngelofDeath
05.04.11 | Does Melee not count? |
Emim
05.04.11 | Yes. |
SymbolicActs
05.04.11 | Melee was/is the shit. |
DinoX
05.04.11 | Mario Kart Ds
Pokemon Gold
Fallout 3
Chrono Trigger
Spyro The Dragon
Crash Bandicoot Warped
Grand Theft Auto 4 |
Masochist
05.04.11 | Yellow didn't have Missingno, and you had to start with a Pikachu who refused to evolve. It's the only "third game" that didn't match the other two, IMO. |
AngelofDeath
05.04.11 | Mario Kart 64 > Mario Kart DS
Pokemon Yellow > Pokemon Gold
Fallout's good but not one of my faves.
Chrono Trigger's on the list.
Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage > Spyro the Dragon
Not sure if I like Crash 2 or 3 better.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is the best GTA. |
AngelofDeath
05.04.11 | The whole "Pikachu" thing was so easy to sidestep, it really didn't compromise the fact that all 150 Pokemon were in it and you didn't have to do any bullshit trading and the graphics were slightly better. |
SymbolicActs
05.04.11 | Warped was my fav between the two. The polar bear cub kicks ass on 2 as well. |
MUNGOLOID
05.04.11 | could never beat the first crash. |
AngelofDeath
05.04.11 | It was fairly hard. Platformers just aren't as good as they used to be. |
MO
05.04.11 | The Crash Bandicoot games were so good. Anyone ever play Wild 9? Pretty fun platformer. |
Keyblade
05.04.11 | Ocarina of Time needs more love. The best game I have ever played, by far. Also Banjo Kazooie, Kingdom Hearts, SMB3, FFVII, SMGalaxy would be my top five after the untouchable awesomeness that is Ocarina of Time. |
omnipanzer
05.04.11 | Samurai Showdown, Ikaruga |
LegendofPittman
05.04.11 | Pokemon Crystal was always my favorite.
Never enough Zelda love. |
AngelofDeath
05.04.11 | I thought the second Kingdom Hearts was better than the original. And Super Mario Galaxy was good, but it probably wouldn't even crack my top one hundred.
Also, I realize I'm in the minority, but I happen to think Twilight Princess is the best Zelda title. Only slightly better than Ocarina. |
Keyblade
05.04.11 | I've always preferred the first Kingdom Hearts for the sole reason that it wasn't nearly as linear as the second. The second one literally played like this: fight heartless-cutscene-fight some more heartless-cutscene-boss battle-cutscene, rinse & repeat. And actually, now that I think of it, SMG shouldn't really be in my top five either. Playing it with my bro just now sort of clouded my judgement, and made me forget all about Chrono Trigger. |
LegendofPittman
05.04.11 | I demand more Time Splitters. |
AngelofDeath
05.06.11 | It's close for me. There's things I like better about each. |
AngelofDeath
10.19.12 | While we're beating the dead horse with this video game thing, might as well bump a list that's actually good. |
