Top Ten 2010 Albuns

2010 was a year with great releases. But this is a very personal take on the music news this year... It reflects much more of my personal taste than of the universe of entertainment. So, have fun with it ;)
10James Blunt
Some Kind of Trouble

Everybody's happy in 2010. Or at least that's what it seems when we listen
to "Some Kind of Trouble", the new album by once depression-English-boy
James Blunt. It's a long way from "You're Beautiful" to "I'll Be Your Man",
and be thankful for it. Blunt is evolving and getting more versatile, and
that's actually rare between musicians at our time.
9KT Tunstall
Tiger Suit

KT Tunstall is now the same, and that's a compliment. After taking a more
poppy-like try on "Drastic Fantastic", she comes back with an indie-
electronica album. It doesn't leave pop music behind, it just takes a
different look at it. Tracks like "Ummanaq Song", "Still a Weirdo", "Fade
Like a Shadow" are born to be classics on the scottish girl repertoire.
8B.o.B.
The Adventures of Bobby Ray

2010 was really the year for me to discover real rap and hip hop artists.
B.o.B., a delayed feature of the '09 "freshman hip hop class", is an
interesting mix of great production, surprinsingly efficient vocals (including
the ones by the rapper his own, a skilled singer as he shows-off in "Ghost
in The Machine) and full-throttle contemporary hits.
7Eminem
Recovery

God knows I've never been a huge rap fanboy. But I always had something
for the climatic songs by Marshall Mathers III, better known as Eminem or
even Slim Shady. Since "he's back again" in Recovery, it's time to admit it:
Eminem is as good as hell. And after "Love The Way You Lie", "Not Afraid"
and "Space Bound", no one can deny it.
6Kylie Minogue
Aphrodite

Madonna comes, Madonna goes. But Kylie stays. On her eleventh studio
album, she goes with the pop-trend of getting heavy on the syths, but
does it on her own unmistakable style. "All The Lovers" is pure refreshment,
as Kylie tends to sound every time she goes right for the center of the
target. "Aphrodite" most certainly hits it.
5 Seal
Commitment

Inspired by his wedding, rough-voiced Seal is pure joy and advice in
"Commitment". It's not a bad thing, however, and "Secrets" comes up to
show us that Seal can be poppy-like (especially concerning the power of
impregnating the mind with his music) without completely getting apart
from his soul roots. If he is happy, we are happy.
4Rihanna
Loud

"Rated R" is probably a best record if you give it some thought, but who
wants to think when Rihanna is, as sexy as she always was, lending her
skilled monotone voice to a collection of pop neutron bombs, tailor made for
a damn good night out? It's the most definitive proof that the Barbadian
singer is a remarkable pop sensibility of our time.
3 Bruno Mars
Doo-Wops and Hooligans

Mars's freshman album is a work of two personalities, one praised by
soulful modern R&B ballads like first-hit "Just The Way You Are", and
another by more Jason Mraz-esque songs like "The Lazy Song" and "Liquor
Store Blues". It's the "Doo-Wop" and the "Hooligan" part of an incredible
new artist coming up, and it's damn good to listen to it.
2Brandon Flowers
Flamingo

The Killers's frontman took a debut that goes further on the direction the
band has been progressively following through the last three albums. The
difference is "Flamingo" is not as irregular as "Sam's Town" or "Day & Age",
and takes risks (without getting hurt) into country and african-like songs,
showcasing Brandon's skilful tuning into different influences.
1Maroon 5
Hands All Over

Adam Levine & Co. took three years to come out with another record after
"It Won't Be Soon Before Long", but waiting was certainly worth it. "Hands
All Over" is Maroon 5 at its best, and should be a must for whoever wants
to be inside what's hot on pop. The sweet and the sexy, everything you
learned to expect from the band is here, and it's even better than you
remember it.
