| Albums That Changed The Way I Perceive Music
As the title says, these albums have had a tremendous impact in the way I listen to my music, rrnot only because they're good, but because I think they are quite unique in their respective rrgenres. Also, I'm looking for black metal recs! | 1 | | Blut Aus Nord Memoria Vetusta I - Fathers Of The Icy A
The atmosphere this album creates is inmense, and unlike countless other
black metal records, it has a very warm sound. Some of the most beautiful
and melancholic riffs are to be found here. Territory of Witches is probably
the greatest thing I've ever listened. | 2 | | Enslaved Vikingligr Veldi
I found this album to be extremely underated (compared to the other
Enslaved's stuff). Every time I listen to this, I can envision myself in the
middle of an epic journey. I know, that sounds quite lame, but this is pure
magic. | 3 | | Ulver Bergtatt
Well, I think we all know this, right? I won't waste any words with this, we
have all heard enough praise for Bergtatt. Words alone can't express the
brillance and the atmosphere of this. Probably my favourite ever. | 4 | | Abyssic Hate Suicidal Emotions
This was the first "Depressive" black metal I listened to, and made me a fan of
the subgenre. It's an extremely personal and haunting record, perfect for a
night listening with headphones on. | 5 | | Ulver Perdition City
Ok, I'll cheat a little with this one. I try not to put more than one
album/Song per band in my lists, but this is a totally different band than the
old Ulver, at least to me. This is a perfect example of an influentian album
that doesn't have a very high rating (Imo, obviously). This made me realize
that black metal is not the only genre that can generate amazing
atmospheres, and that Electronica is not bad at all, as I used to think. | 6 | | Blind Guardian Somewhere Far Beyond
the turnig point for BG. I see this as their peak, combining the melody and
overall "cheesiness" (in a good way) the genre is known for, but without
losing the speed metal bits that I love about them. I don't listen to much
power metal, but as far as I know, this is the genre's best. Oh, also my first
Heavy/Power/metal ever | 7 | | In Flames Lunar Strain
So much hate for this band. I know, modern In Flames sucks, but once upon
a time they made some great stuff. Even though I think their best album is
the Jester Race, I have a huge respect for this, as it was my first encounter
with the famous "weird vocals" in metal. Althoug pretty inmature in it's
execution, is unbelievable how well the atmosphere matches with the cover art. | 8 | | King Crimson In The Court Of The Crimson King
Probably the best and first prog rock album ever, I can't believe this came
out in 1969. I haven't heard to this date such an opressive and surreal
production as this. Again, my gateway to prog music. | 9 | | Camel Camel
Bow down to the best album ever (is this or Bergtatt, I don't know). I can't
find an explanation about why I like this so much, I just happened to listen
to Never Let Go on day, and it was like something inside my clicked. I don't
know what else to say, to this day this has been my benchmark, the
highest bar an album has to reach to be a 5. | 10 | | Band Album | |
