Hostility Much?
Seems like everyone is a little on edge around here lately. Or maybe I've
just been looking at too many user lists and their respective comments.
Regardless, here is Michigan ranked. |
| 1 | Sufjan Stevens Romulus
Yeah it's probably everyone's favorite song off of this album, but for a damn
good reason. Hauntingly simplistic lyrics and beautiful instrumentation make
this a sure winner. |
| 2 | Vito's Ordination Song
This one just slowly builds into a really incredible song. The acoustic version is
awesome, as well. |
| 3 | For the Widows in Paradise, for the Fatherless in Ypsilanti
I love the banjo part in this song. It really sets the mood well. |
| 4 | Holland |
| 5 | Oh Detroit, Lift Up Your Weary Head! (Rebuild! Restore! Reconsider!)
This song has a really sick 9/8 groove. |
| 6 | Flint (For the Unemployed and Underpaid) |
| 7 | The Upper Peninsula |
| 8 | Say Yes! To M!ch!gan!
I really dig the cascading piano in this song. |
| 9 | Oh God Where Are You Now? (In Pickerel Lake? Pigeon? Marquette? Mackinaw?)
This song would be one of my favorites if it was like 5 minutes shorter. |
| 10 | Sleeping Bear, Sault Ste. Marie |
| 11 | All Good Naysayers, Speak Up! Or Forever Hold Your Peace!
I like the bouncing 5/4 groove but this track doesn't really do anything for me. |
| 12 | They Also Mourn Who Do Not Wear Black (For the Homeless in Muskegon)
Groove is a little too similar to Naysayers and the song isn't nearly as good. |
| 13 | Redford (For Yia-Yia and Pappou)
Best of the instrumentals. |
| 14 | Tahquamenon Falls |
| 15 | Alanson, Crooked River
This really wasn't needed. |
