Top 25 Favorite Albums

These are my favorite albums, love em or hate em
25 Sigur Ros
Agaetis Byrjun

I don't give a s*** if I can't understand anything he's saying, Jonsi's vocals are purely angelic. Ny Batteri might be my favorite song.
The Shape Of Punk To Come

Don't get me wrong, just because this is the only hardcore album on this list, doesn't mean I don't like the genre. This is my favorite
hardcore album, albeit an obvious pick.
Kid A

Alternative rock has never been so daring (mr. bungle isn't alternative), and this is just great.
Summer In Abaddon

Nothing too mindblowing with this one. Just absolutely perfect songs from beginning to end, and an overall chill feel.
21Panda Bear
Person Pitch

No I don't get high listening to this.

Most of my friends are into hip-hop, and this is easily my favorite of their stuff. An interesting and original album in a genre going
horribly stale with each passing year.
19Nick Drake
Pink Moon

I don't know how this ended up in 1972. I mean sure there were plenty of albums that were way ahead of their time in the 70s, but
this one is just too relevant to modern folk and indie rock to be made 40 years ago. This isn't pretentious artsy stuff though, it's just
honest and heartwrenching folk perfection.
18Neutral Milk Hotel
In The Aeroplane Over The Sea

Jeff Magnum writes some strange lyrics, but I haven't heard anyone sing about semen stained mountaintops, mutilating corpses and

My favorite Hip-Hop album. Solid.
16The Knife
Silent Shout

I don't really know why I like this album so much. All I know is that it's been playing on my ipod at least once a week for the past couple
of years.
15The Dismemberment Plan
Emergency & I

Such a "different" approach to rock, especially in a time where things in the genre were getting really samey (w/ the exception of
Radiohead). The City, A Life Of Possibilities and You Are Invited are must listens, although the whole album is excellent.
14Boards Of Canada
Music Has The Right To Children

The other completely essential ambient techno album.
13Aphex Twin
Selected Ambient Works 85-92

Ambient Techno is awesome. Arguably, no one better at it than Richard David James, except maybe Boards Of Canada. Nothing better
to study or do homework to for sure.
12Joy Division
Unknown Pleasures

One of the greatest albums of all time. Highly emotional and completely from the heart... a very frail and mangled heart.
11Guided By Voices
Bee Thousand

A very cool album. I love the low-fi aesthetic and the no-bs approach to rock music. 20 tracks of pure catchiness.

F*** yea!
9 Godspeed You Black Emperor!

I love post-rock, and this is just an absolute gem of a post-rock album. Captivating from start to finish- even during that 2 minute
break towards the end of Providence.

I have a personal tie to this one. It was one the first albums that I truly loved. Their best work for sure, and I strongly disagree that
they didn't change much for this album. It's even quite dark in some parts and really just beautiful to listen to all the way through.
7Massive Attack

This album is chill. Really chill. Also one of my favorites to play in the car. Angel and the title track are amazing through my subs.
6The Cure

Listening to Disintegration is like walking through an empty NYC. Not sure how else to put it, but anyone else who has listened to this
album through will agree that there is nothing like it. Note: extremely emotional; not for the apathetic mood
5Bon Iver
For Emma, Forever Ago

Just the most beautifully sincere album I've ever heard.
4Brian Eno
Ambient 1: Music For Airports

I haven't gone to sleep once in the past 6 months without listening to this... that could become a serious problem if something
happens to my computer :/

My favorite album of the 90s. These guys made a perfect album that's so dark and sparse at times, yet dense and overwhelming in
others. An absolute rollercoaster of emotions in a six track album. Impressive.
2Animal Collective

One of the coolest works of noisy-poppy art I've ever heard by one of my favorite bands.
1The National

My favorite album to listen to in the car at night, or any time for that matter. I don't know what it is about it, but it just makes me feel
so good.
