It's Love, It's Love, It's Love
From my i-Tunes, the top 15 tracks that I have listened to with the word "Love" in the song title. Hope you all LOVE the list.... |
1 | Poison the Well Loved Ones
"You Come Before You"-- Song plays best when in a roller coaster. Lyrical Highlight "THERE IS NO WAY TO MAKE UP, FOR THE TWENTY YEARS" |
2 | A Wilhelm Scream God Loves a Liar
"Ruiner"-- The album, as a whole is one of the best punk rock albums of the mid 2000s. Actually, the band is one of the best punk rock bands out there. Highlight: "Don't Mistake someone's daughter's cries, for fuck sounds." |
3 | Thursday Love Has Led Us Astray
"Common Existence"-- This album gives "Full Collapse" a run for its money as Thursday's best album ever! Highlight: If you listen closely to the background, you get a cue to sing along to "Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do." |
4 | Ever Fallen in Love
"Tony Hawk's American Wasteland"-- One of the better punk rock compilation of cover track albums. Makes "PUNK GOES..." sound weak. Highlight: Hearing the Buzzcocks' song with Geoff Rickley's voice. |
5 | Bayside Loveless Wrists
Split EP with Name Take-- It's a simple little song about good things going horribly, horribly wrong. Highlight: The Chorus is catchy as hell and you can't help but to sing along ("TO WRAP MY HANDS AROUND MY NECK/ KILL MYSELF AGAIN/ CUT MY ARMS WITH THE BIGGEST KNIFE I CAN STAND"). GREAT STUFF. |
6 | A Static Lullaby Love to Hate, Hate to Me
"....And don't Forget to Breathe"-- Finding out that falling in love is not as simple as the movies make it seem to be can be hard on a kid. This entire album was the perfect guide that I needed in my early 20s. Highlight: "Take this Blade to my Wrist, and help me end what makes you, UGLY!" (Fatlip does not condone the cutting of one's wrist. Please do not cut your wrists, kids!). |
7 | Against Me! I Still Love You Julie
"Reinventing Axl Rose"-- Back when this band was the coolest thing ever. Might just be the most important punk rock album of the previous decade. Highlight: "Maybe Somehow, this scam will still SAVE UUUUSSSS AAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL" (I miss Against Me! :( ) |
8 | Arcade Fire Crown of Love
"Funeral"-- Made my list of top 2000s albums, reaching #2. Highlight: It just sounds like a very cool, 1950s hit with a modern twist. I dare you not to hum along--hmmmmm, hmmmmmm, hmmmmmmmmmmmm |
9 | Poison the Well Who Doesn't Love a Good Dismemberment
"The Tropic Rot"-- I hope to the power that is unknown to me that this band doesn't permanently split. Last I heard, they were going to a temporary hiatus. Let's hope it stays temporary b/c I have yet to see them live. Highlight: There's this really cool part in the beginning of the song; "At one time when the days were nectar sweet I was a lovely boy.
I brought smiles in my bag to pass around to all the unpleasant I passed." The rest of the lyrics, just like every Poison the Well song, paint a picture of inter and intra-personal disaster. I hope they don't fade away. |
10 | Shai Hulud This Song: For the True and Passionate Lovers of Music
"That Within Blood Ill Tempered"-- This one is dedicated to the entire Sputnik community! Highlight: Halfway through the song makes up the best part of the track.... "if a human's nature is to war, this song:
is a battleground,
and this voice,
a weapon/
ONE THOUSAND VOOOOOOOIIIICEEEEEEESSS!!!" |
11 | Alkaline Trio Love Love, Kiss Kiss
"Agony and Irony"-- You can't omit a list of "LOVE" songs without mentioning this band. Highlight: I really didn't like this song when I first heard, but this verse won me over "Well do you find you like to fall in love with people that you're never gonna meet?
It's easier than breaking up and crying in the street
Do you curse the happy couple? Do you cringe at wedding bells?
Do you drink up all the punch while you wish 'em all to hell?" |
12 | Bad Religion Dearly Beloved
"New Maps of Hell"-- I LOVE Bad Religion. Can't wait to see them again at RiotFest. Highlight: Great sing-along part right here>>> "Dearly beloved, dearly beloved (make no mistake, despite our traits),
Dearly beloved (I've seldom seen).
I can't relate to you (I can't relate to you).
I can't relate to you." |
13 | Alexisonfire .44 Caliber Love Letter
"Alexisonfire"--One of the most underrated albums of the post-hardcore genre. This song has a great melody, memorable riffs, three dudes singing, and heartbreak crashing all around you. Highlight: To this day, the best line to use on somebody who is going through a break up is as follows, "Just remember the first step in forgetting
Is destroying all the evidence." The reaction on people's faces is priceless! |
14 | Bad Religion God's Love
"The Empire Strikes First"-- The most powerful form of love from a satirical point-of-view. Highlight: This song has one hell of a chorus "Tell me/Tell me where is the love/ in a careless creation/when there's no above/THERE'S NOT JUSTICE!/ Just a cause and a cure/and a bounty of suffering / It seems we all endure/ and what I'm frightened of, is that they call it GOD'S LOVE" |
15 | Lagwagon Love Story
"Let's Talk about Feelings"-- All my favorite bands are breaking apart it seems like. *sigh* Highlight: "I know that it's not funny but it's true
No one gives a shit but you"-- Sometimes, it seems I'm the only one that gives a shit about Lagwagon :( |
