| Most Talented Guitarists Ever
ALRIGHT. THIS WAS THE FIRST LIST I EVER MADE AND IT GOT DELETED SOMEHOW. It actually got some praise, and I put a lot of thought into this. Please feel free to challenge my opinions of not the "greatest," but the most talented guitarists to roam the planet. | | 1 | Andres Segovia | | 2 | Django Reinhardt | | 3 | Mauro Guiliani | | 4 | Yngwie Malmsteen | | 5 | Michael Angelo Batio | |

01.15.07 | Here's a brief description:
Andres Segovia is the father of the classical guitar, and transcribed countless numbers of piano and orchestra pieces to be played on a single guitar. The man is an absolute genius, and is undoubtedly the greatest classical guitar player to ever live
Django Reinhardt is the father of the jazz guitar. Django damaged his hand in a fire in a caravan (he was a gypsie). His playing was far ahead of his time. It was a Django Reinhardt album that played a part in convincing Tony Iommi to continue playing guitar after he injured his hand.
Mauro Giuiliani wrote the famous Grand Overture for the guitar, controversially the hardest song to play on the guitar. It times in at around 15 minutes and he wrote it a couple hundred years ago in his teens. He wrote many exercises for the guitar that put him way ahead of his time.
Yngwie Malmsteen has an ego that far outweighs his ability to play the guitar, but he is one of the fastest player on earth. He revolutionized the way one plays the guitar back in the 80's with his release "Rising Force." Though some bitch on him about his mindless shredding, which isnt uncommon today, he was the first and is still the best. He has many classical influences, and other rock influences such as Hendrix and Richie Blackmore.
Michael Angelo Batio is just like Yngwie Malmsteen. However, he distinguishes himself by being ambidextrous. Ill post a link to a site later to show you exactly what I mean. As far as I'm concerned, hes the only person in the world to play the guitar with his left and right hand at the same time | BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please-

01.15.07 | alright, for those of who who are slightly perplexed by what I said about Michael Angelo Batio being "ambidextrous" on the guitar - GO HERE! http://www.foundrymusic.com/opieanthony/displaymedia.cfm/id/12194/

01.15.07 | A great list. Thanks for not posting the most redundant rock and metal names. I was really expecting to see Muhammid Suicmez, James Malone, John Petrucci, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, etc. Then again, I don't know you at all. The only name up there I would argue with is Malmsteen. His style was ahead of his time but that was it. In terms of speed, he is greatly overshadowed. I don't know why he is considered one of the fastest shredders ever. He does what every toher shredder does except he takes passages from classical music, shreds them mindlessly, and does it with extreme ego. | rockstar18
01.15.07 | Sweet list dude! | CoRpSeSlAyEr
01.15.07 | Jason Becker and Steve Vai. Those two are better than Yngwie because of their different variety of styles. Plus neo-classical speed-picking runs at 200+BPM on 16th notes get kind of boring, but still good.

01.15.07 | ShadowsFallen, Dream Theater is in my top 5 favorite bands ever, and Petrucci would easily make my top 10. Steve Vai and Joe Satriani are very good, but I haven't listened to enough of their stuff to really distinguish them. | hard_rocker89
01.15.07 | Hey nice list...I'll have to check these guys out...I haven't heard any of those guys' music....have to check 'em out fo sho. | Thor
01.15.07 | SRV >>>>>>>>>> Batio | Bfhurricane
01.15.07 | SRV would make my top 10 favorite guitarists. Here's how I see it. If Batio had to, he could play anything SRV could. SRV couldn't touch Batio, Batio's just poured too much of his life into complete mastery of the instrument. With both hands |
