| Warped Tour Fever
So I've been meaning to attend Warped Tour at least once in my lifetime and at 27 years-young, I've decided it's now or never. The big deterrent for me has been that when I see the set list for warped tour, there's only a handful of bands that I really wanna see, but since they only get 30 minute sets AND there's a risk that two of my favorite bands might play at the same time, my thought-process has always been that it's not worth going. However, I have friends who actually wanna go with me this year so now's a good time as ever to go. The first 8 bands are artists that I want to see on stage. After that, the next 12 artists are the only other bands I've heard of before, but have no virtual clue of their work. Basically, looking for advise as to who else I should see besides the first 8 bands when Warped Tour comes to Chicago in late July. Any recs are welcome. We thank you in advance :) | 1 | Face to Face
I was so sad when they broke up and regret not ever seeing them live. I was always checking almost everyday to see if there was a chance they would comeback at least one more time so I can see them play. Maybe there is a trick to this whole "wishing" thing. | 2 | Every Time I Die
Saw them in 2009 at the House of Blues and I immediately made myself a mental note to go see them again the next time they go through Chicago. | 3 | The Dillinger Escape Plan
Coming off their April 2nd date in Chicago where they performed the greatest show I've ever seen at Reggie's Rock Club. Hope they kick ass outdoors as they do indoors. | 4 | Parkway Drive
Been wondering for a long time when they would tour the U.S. again. Again, this whole "wishing" thing.... | 5 | Alkaline Trio
This band always pisses me off because they never play enough songs from Goddamit and their sets usually consists of songs from their last 3-4 albums. I can't hate them too much because they did come out with Goddamit and created the song "Radio." | 6 | Pennywise
Not excited about their new singer b/c I never really liked him with Ignite. I'm going to miss Jim and regret not seeing a Pennywise show with him, but I'm still excited to see them for the first time ever. | 7 | Fake Problems
Last saw them opening up for Against Me! in the spring of 2007 and they really impressed me. Their last album was a disappointment, but had its moments. | 8 | Riverboat Gamblers
Also at that same Against Me! show was this band. They put on a very entertaining show and look forward to seeing them again even though I haven't been keeping up with them since that first time I saw them. | 9 | Alesana
I remember when this band was like a top 20 screamo band on myspace. Is myspace still around? | 10 | Andrew W.K.
Heard of him, but do not necessarily care for his work | 11 | Attack Attack
Heard them through a Victory Records sampler. Not into that whole synth movement. | 12 | Bring Me The Horizon
Saw them open for Every Time I Die in 2009 and felt that their music and show was full of energy, but felt like a big giant gimmick. | 13 | Emmure
Speaking of gimmick.... | 14 | Haste the Day
I remember first trying to get into this band 5-6 years ago, but their music could never garner my interest. | 15 | Iwrestledabearonce
There's this cute girl at work who swears this is a good up-and-coming band. If anybody knows about music...... Also, missed them by 30 minutes at The Dillinger Escape Plan show | 16 | Reel Big Fish
Saw them in 2006 opening up for MxPx. A bunch of tools is what they are. | 17 | Suicide Silence
PULL THE TRIGGER BITCH! | 18 | Set Your Goals/Four Year Strong
I always get these two bands confused. Probably why I never got into either one of them | 19 | Sum 41
Back in my day, if you wanted to listen to fresh punk music on the radio, this band was the only way to get your fix. And the music industry wonders why people download music. And no, I did not get my name from their song "Fatlip." I hate that song! | 20 | The Casualties
Never got into them and I don't know why. I've only heard 2-3 songs from them. Maybe I'll check them out. | |

04.22.10 | Again, rec me a band that you think I would like who will appear at the Chicago stop at warped tour (July 31). I prefer if they sound similar to the first 8 bands listed, but recs do not have to be based on this list.
Thanks a bunch! | porkchop182
04.22.10 | Alk trio are the most frustrating band to see live, I have not seen them play with a decent set list. | WhiteWallStargazers
04.22.10 | Check out Enter Shikari . . . great live show | fatlip27
04.22.10 | porkchop--preaching to the fucking choir here. They make me mad just thinking about it their shitty playlists. You know what? I demand that they play "97" too! | porkchop182
04.22.10 | HAHA fatlip27 I wanna see them break out some goddamnit, I've seen them 3 times and they didn't even play Radio any of those times!
And I agree about Enter Shikari, not much of a fan of their album stuff, but really are something special live. | SpeachImpediment
04.22.10 | Every Time I Die is AWESOME live, I saw them on Warped Tour '08, same with Dillinger. Too bad As I Lay Dying, Evergreen Terrace, and Protest The Hero won't be returning :(
Also, Whitechapel, Emmure, and Bring Me The Horizon aren't bad if you're into deathcore like that, and Agent Orange is a cute little 90s surf-punk band with some good jams.
Oh yeah, iwrestledabearonce is annoying as shit after a few listens. | Douglas
04.22.10 | Reel Big Fish rule face | blackholeparty10
04.22.10 | ^ agreed.

04.22.10 | yea dude reel big fish is the shit and i dont know if streetlight manifesto is going to chicago but they're gonna be at the hartford show so fuck yea haha | SHAKEandBAKE
04.22.10 | Make sure to check out Polar Bear Club and Closure in Moscow. | fatlip27
04.23.10 | No offense, but fuck Reel Big Fish hahahahaha. I'm sorry, but their songs, to me, are nothing special and I saw them live once and it was one time too many. Although, I WOULD KILL TO SEE STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO AGAIN (the last time I saw them, they opened up for Reel Big Fish and MxPx and they were probably the best band that night). Streetlight, unfortunately, will not be playing in Chicago.
I saw that Agent Orange are playing on the west coast, but they will not be making their way to Chicago. Sucks! At least I saw them once and it was back in January when they opened up for 88 Fingers Louie in January. Agent Orange still rock!
Saw Polar Bear Club at one of the Riot Fest dates last year in Chicago opening for Strike Anywhere (I wish they were in warped tour too) and I wanted to get into them, but none of the songs were catchy, but in a weird way, I bet they sound better with a pair of ear buds on. I'll have to start collecting their music and they are also not making the Chicago trip either.
WTF, all these great bands you guys mentioned and none are coming to Chicago. Bummer..... | fatlip27
04.23.10 | porkchop--They didn't even play Radio?!?!? Last time I saw Alkaline Trio, they didn't play Radio either, those fucking assholes. You know what? Now I demand that they also play "This is Getting Over You" and "Fuck You, Aurora."
Emmure is an interesting band to read about on this website. The people who love them defend them to the death and the people who hate them piss on the former group's parade. The only thing I know about Emmure is that they make almost everybody's YouTube video of "Greatest Top 10 Breakdown Ever." I'm curious to see what all the controversy is about, but if the people who hate them are telling the truth that Emmure songs are just one giant breakdown, then there are only two ways their shows can go--either really good, or really bad.
I'm also curious about Whitechapel and if anything, Bring Me the Horizon had a lot of fans who were sweet candy for my eyes.
ShakeandBake-Any background info on Closure in Moscow? Who would you compare them too? How would you categorize their music? You have my ear! | qwe3
04.23.10 | reel big fish rule | SHAKEandBAKE
04.23.10 | Just go check out Chan's review of their latest...
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?albumid=37432
My best comparison is a cross between Circa Survive and the Mars Volta. Probably not very accurate though haha. | SHAKEandBAKE
04.23.10 | Check out the Swellers too btw. | fatlip27
04.26.10 | I own one Swellers album (the very first one, with "By a Thread" and "On the Inside"). Been meaning to get more of their albums, but alas, they will not be playing in Chicago. This sucks; we get all the shitty bands it looks like.
Come on Sputnik, I know you guys wanna tell me about all the bands I should check out at Warped Tour! |
