I assume are getting d now? Oh well, it was fun while it
lasted. Well here is a music list, the greatest band in all of music
ranked with Oscar nominated movies ranked, excluding the two I
haven't seen yet (Avatar and Blind Side) | 1 | | Fugazi End Hits
The Hurt Locker: Easily the best movie of 2009, it's intense and true to life (from what I've
heard). The "war is a drug" motif the film carries on throughout the film is a strong but
true representation of modern war. Probably one of the best war movies I've ever seen, I
can't really think of another that captures the time period it is portraying so well. | 2 | | Fugazi The Argument
Up In The Air: Witty, smart and funny, pretty much everything I want in a movie. The
narrative is another that rings true to life but in a complete opposite way of The Hurt Locker.
Probably one of Clooney's best roles, he captures the character so well. The supporting cast
is amazing as well, both females do an incredible job on their own, and at supporting the
main character. | 3 | | Fugazi Repeater
An Education: I just saw this last night but I wish I had seen it earlier. Just like Up in the
Air this is a smart and funny movie based around a compelling story. The multiple plot
twists took me by complete surprise, even when I was sure I had predicted what was to
come. The lead actress does a wonderful job as a naive 16-year old school girl wondering
what she is going to do with her life. Plus it's penned by the same guy that did High
Fidelity so its automatically good. | 4 | | Fugazi Red Medicine
District 9: A truly great sci fi film that tackles a very serious issue without
being too serious about it. The storyline is clever and action packed,
something I wasn't really expecting when I first saw the film. | 5 | | Fugazi 13 Songs
Up: Pixar. | 6 | | Fugazi Instrument Soundtrack
Inglorious Basterds: Now I know a lot of you think this is the best thing
that happened all year, but I really found it to be a disappointment. The
storyline drags and the dialogue isn't very witty at all, unlike most Tarantino
movies, it's just bland and time consuming. I will give it to Tarantino that
he created a killer s cript, but what translated on to the screen wasn't really
up to par with his other works. Although I have to say Waltz' Jew Hunter
was easily my favorite character of the year. | 7 | | Fugazi Steady Diet of Nothing
Precious: I think this movie suffered because it wasn't quite sure what it
wanted to be. Was it supposed to be an uplifting drama or a depressing
tragedy? It wasn't either really. I didn't leave the movie thinking, hey good
for her! or wow that was sad, I just fell in between. The best part of the
movie was easily Gabby's performance as Precious. It's pretty remarkable
that it was her first real acting gig and she totally nailed it. Gonna be kinda
tough to cast her out of that niche though... | 8 | | Fugazi In On The Kill Taker
A Serious Man: Easily the Coen Brothers' worst film. The comedy in the
movie is ridiculously dark, you would have to be a complete nihilist to find
laugh out loud humor in this movie. There is no big morale at the end of
the story, or any over-arching theme; just depression. Maybe it was the
time period or the religious aspect of the movie that turned me off, but I
couldn't find anything to enjoy in this movie. Had it not been directed by
The Coen Brothers I don't believe it would have even been nominated. | |

03.20.10 | Now give me shit for putting Basterds below Up. | jesusjuice1179
03.20.10 | Up was 100x better than basterds and 10x better then the Hurt locker, that should've won best picture | Willie
03.20.10 | No. Lists are still lightly moderated, but Mx has told us that he doesn't want any lists with questionable titles on the page (cussing, racist, homophobic, trolling etc) and they either need to be deleted or edited. Also lists that just turn into places for spamming and a lot of that "questionable" material I mentioned have to go. Did you lose a list? | americanmusicmachine
03.20.10 | yeah up was my favorite movie of 2009. I'm guna watch 'a serious man' soon, it's based on the book of job right? that's my favorite book of the bible so I'm intrigued. | PanasonicYouth
03.20.10 | basterds > hurt locker tbh
movie was genius
and avatar is shit | Prophet178
03.20.10 | Ah, yeah my Sputnikers list got the axe, but I guess it just trashed because like 3 other people made lists with similar titles to mine and it was all spam. | americanmusicmachine
03.20.10 | and oh yeah fuckin' fugazi!!! | Prophet178
03.20.10 | Too bad animated films have no chance at winning best picture, undeservedly so.
Not sure American, it has a lot of Jewish comedy and allusions that I have no idea about. Maybe A Serious Man just went over my head. | qwe3
03.20.10 | Basterds wasn't that great.
the hurt locker was def the best of the nominated movies | Zoo
03.20.10 | Just watched The Blind Side last night and it was actually really good. My second favorite behind HL but I've yet to see Up. | Willie
03.20.10 | That would probably do it ;) Fugazi is an excellent band. My favorite is definitely Repeater. | JulesWin
03.20.10 | post the same list without naming names and it won't be taken down.
list was great btw | Prophet178

03.20.10 | Nope. | qwe3
03.20.10 | the hurt locker's opening scene is just amazing. although sometimes I didn't like the pseudo-artsy touches like the slow motion shells falling to the sand. | Phantom
03.20.10 | about time they did tbh | americanmusicmachine
03.20.10 | "('A Serious Man') tells the story of an ordinary man who is trying to find balance and understanding in the world, loosely based on the story of Job.[1]"
that's from wikipedia, and the review they source (http://articles.latimes.com/2009/oct/02/entertainment/et-serious-man2) says this:
"Yet the more the man of the title suffers the torments of Job, the more he tries to deal with the unknowability of the usual willfully absurd and decidedly hostile Coen universe, the more we're encouraged to wonder if this isn't just the tiniest bit funny. And the more real the pain becomes, the more, in a quintessentially Jewish way, laughter becomes our only serious option."
hope I like the movie more than you cuz I'm looking forward to it.
| ninjuice
03.20.10 | The first scene of The Hurt Locker is great.
But then they kill off Guy Pearce.
WTF? | paxman
03.20.10 | A Serious Man sucked so much ass. The Hurt Locker was the best movie of the year by far. I also loved District 9, which was light-years better than Avatar. | sniper
03.21.10 | I just watched Pirate Radio, movie was fucking awesome, didn't get much attention though. I've been meaning to get into Fugazi, but I have 13 Songs and it honestly didn't amaze me. Should I get the other ones instead? | deliberately
03.21.10 | i really liked the blind side | porch
03.21.10 | awesome list, though you need to listen to Kill Taker again obviously
