01.06.10 | cool man, you guys got anything recorded? |
ThePalestMexican
01.06.10 | Nah, we tried but crappy garage made recordings don't go well with a clean easily heard drum machine.
We've done a few shows though, & that's definitely on our list. |
Thor
01.06.10 | I'm a little concerned at the Despised Icon influence but other than that mostly cool |
ThePalestMexican
01.06.10 | It's just a "no highs" kinda influence I get from them.
(yes I am aware that they had lots of pig squeals on the other albums) |
eternium
01.06.10 | Sounds like a possible sludge grindcore type thing. Could sound cool. |
ThePalestMexican
01.06.10 | It's starting to turn out that kinda way, but with jazzy instrumentals and the occasional clean vocals (Pig Destroyer clean vocals...yes they have THAT much of an influence).
We haven't received much feedback from the shows we did past a, "that was weird, but good", and "a little different, but good".
We've played with all sorts of bands though, so we may not be hitting our potential audience. |
Inveigh
01.06.10 | where are you from? |
eternium
01.06.10 | Different is good, as long as you continue to build on your own sound and further develop it.
Originality ftw. A rarity these days. |
ThePalestMexican
01.06.10 | Abilene, Texas.
We've opened for Dr.Acula, Autumn Black, Liferuiner, The World We Knew, Oceano, & We Were Gentlemen.
So yeah...nothing really in our department. |
eternium
01.06.10 | Maybe you should invent post-grindcore, by mixing in some post-rock. I've had this idea myself.
Could open up for better bands as a result. |
ThePalestMexican
01.06.10 | It's sorta Post-Metal/Sludge/Jazz/Grind from the sound of things.
It's really different compared to the other locals, and not many bands come to Abilene so we take what we can get, though we are planning on expanding to Ft.Worth & Witchita Falls once we have the money/equipment. |

01.06.10 | ah, yeah, my band had that problem occasionally too. We were groove-metal based hardcore but we always ended up opening for stuff like The End, Classic Struggle, Throwdown, Shadows Fall and Poison the Well (among others). Not that those bands were THAT far off, but we probably would've been better opening for something like Every Time I Die or even A Life Once Lost or Parkway Drive.
I'd be interested to hear some stuff from you guys, unfortunately I live in Chicago. |
eternium
01.06.10 | I need a band myself, problems being no drummer and lack of money for better equipment.
Nearly every band around where I am is breakdown molesting generic deathcore. Will be easy to stand out.
You should really record something when you get the chance. Maybe even videos if the sound quality is decent. |
ThePalestMexican
01.06.10 | Yeah, we'd be more comfortable opening for stuff like on the list.
Also, we have no REAL drummer so we're still a trio, so not many bands take us seriously. Not to mention that we're still in High School (about to graduate, but high school none the less) |
ThePalestMexican
01.06.10 | and We'd LOVE to, but we'd feel better in a studio, but hopefully that won't be too far off, one just opened up near my house.
I was actually just about to talk to them about that. |
BrahTheSunGod
01.07.10 | Sounds kinda awesome, I'm digging the sludgy influences.
Hey if you'd like, I managed to self-produce and record my own band's entire EP for a grand total of about $400 worth of equipment, with no studio whatsoever; I'd be glad to give you a brief rundown of how. Trust me, studios are ridiculously expensive, inefficient bitchess to work with.
(Probs not your style, but to give an idea of the quality you can get- http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=CA4BEBC4885839BF&search_query=silence+the+echoes+floods ) |
ThePalestMexican
01.07.10 | The quality is really good, and you said no studio?
Do you have a myspace? |
Emim
01.07.10 | "a clean easily heard drum machine."
*hisses* SATAN!!! Get yourself a real drummer. |
ThePalestMexican
01.07.10 | I wish we could
xD
We've looked forever, but no one's interested.
We've had to make due until we can find one. |
BrahTheSunGod
01.07.10 | Thanks! Yup, here you go:

I can write up my methods really quick and email em to ya if you want to post it for me (i'd feel like a bitch for posting that long of a comment in this thread) |
ThePalestMexican
01.07.10 | alright sweet, I added you |
BrahTheSunGod
01.07.10 | huh. either I'm epically myspace-challenged, or I don't see it... haha |
ThePalestMexican
01.07.10 | It says you already approved |
BrahTheSunGod
01.07.10 | haha i'm brillian (/sarcasm), it's set to auto-add. Fuck it, check your shoutbox |

I would if I could, man. |
SteelErectedb4you8er
01.07.10 | I dig your influences dude. The best advice I can give is keep on going. Soon enough, it could be monstrous. Sludge/Grind combo is pretty dope. I love both. As long as you love what you are doing, that is all that matters. |
ThePalestMexican
01.07.10 | We'd let you, the only one who's actually interested has got drama, and drugs written all over him.
And yeah, the newer songs we've written sound more Sludgy or Post-metal, with a tiny bit of Jazz. Grindcore being there cause we've always been a grindcore band, just evolving and developing our sound along the way. |
