| In This List, I Do Yet Another Top 10 Dt Songs
Yep, once more. This time, though, my tastes have changed, so this will be quite different from the last one. | | 1 | Dream Theater In The Presence of Enemies
Has turned to be my favorite of their epics. LaBrie sounds awesome in this one. Lyrics are quite cool, and song is epic in all the sense of the word. Slaughter of The Damned is the standout for me. Awesome song. | | 2 | Blind Faith
Musically amazing, and lyrics are IMO the best of Dream Theater. Great stuff here. The guitar solo is IMO among Petrucci's best, and it's the highlight of the song for me. | | 3 | A Nightmare to Remember
From the moment I listened to this, I knew BC&SL was gonna be a great album. Every part of it is great, but the "Peaceful sedation" part stands out. Really good. | | 4 | This Dying Soul
After some more listens, this clicked on me, and now it's my favorite of Train of Thought. Heavy even by the album standards. That cool "rap" part in the song is personally my favorite, lyrics are dark, and it gives the song some more edge. | | 5 | Finally Free
Wow.... Just wow. This is simply one of the best closers ever made. Clears up the story of Metropolis Pt. 2 very well, and ends the album in a high note. The "One Last Time" part of the song helps with it. Amazing. | | 6 | Octavarium
24 minutes of pure win and epic. Intervals alone is the best part not only of the song, but of the album, in my opinion. Excellent song, incredibly well written. | | 7 | Lines in The Sand
Even though the vocals that are not LaBrie in the chorus get kinda annoying, this is one of their best. The intro is just amazing, as is the rest of the song. But heck, that intro is a classic. | | 8 | Take The Time
Complex, awesome, and with some of DTs best moments. When the samples enter and then LaBrie enters is just great. Great stuff. | | 9 | In The Name of God
Holy crap this song is great. Will remain in my top 10 like, forever. Every part is awesome, I loved the chorus more than anything in this song, but I've also found some appreciation in the techno break. Great stuff this is. | | 10 | The Glass Prison
Well, epic intro to both the 12 step suite and to SDOIT. Agressive, keeps heavy all the way, it's easily one of their best. The little bass moment before the insane soloing is my favorite part of this song. Excellent stuff. | |
