| 20 Awesome Metal CDS
A sort of hybrid list; 1-13 or so are probably some of my favorite ralbums right now, with the last 6 or so being albums I think kick rmajor ass but might not make my favorite list. This list started as rmy top 20 favorite albums but that was definitely a misnomer as rI'm not a complete metul hed. | | 1 | | The Faceless Akeldama
Definitely my #1 favorite album. Hard to believe it but this is the album that got me into metal.
Autopsy, Pestilence, All Dark Graves, and Leica are the standouts for me, and Leica has definately got to
be one of my favorite songs ever...the solo is just insane. | | 2 | | The Faceless Planetary Duality
I'm conflicted with putting this as #2 but I just love the Faceless so much that I have to; my conflict
comes from the fact that I wasn't a huge fan of this album upon release, but after 100's of listens I tend
to agree with people that it improves upon a lot of faults from Akeldama. | | 3 | | Born of Osiris The New Reign
I know there is a lot of hate out there for this album, and some of it is warranted; the album is too
short, the vocalist lacks range, the songs jump around too much, etc etc. Aside from these negatives,
the playing ability of all the members of the band and the creativity featured in each song makes this
cd endlessly listenable for me, especially the drummer's fills, while a little too numerous, they are
ridiculously awesome. | | 4 | | All Shall Perish The Price of Existence
I almost put this as #2 or #3 but my love for Michael Keene won out in the end. This is an album I can
always return to when I get depressed from the lack of new/awesome death metal to listen to. Like my
previous picks this album's best songs make it infinitely replayable, and even the worst songs aren't
that bad. This ablum is made even better when in comparison to ASP terrible follow up Awaken the
Dreamers; aside from the title track that album sucks hard. | | 5 | | The Black Dahlia Murder Nocturnal
Another CD that I credit with making me a metal head. Yes each songs' solos are indeciferable from one
another, yes BDM has throngs of annoying teenage fans, but I dont care; their songs are catchy as hell,
and the addition of Shannon Lucas made a great band one of the best in the genre. I'm really looking
forward to their new CD next month. | | 6 | | Winds of Plague Decimate the Weak
Found this band from Sputnik last year. Aside from "Reloaded," possibly one of the worst songs ever
featured on a CD that proports to be a metal CD, this CD has some awesomely catchy songs, and is
definately one of my favorites. | | 7 | | Veil of Maya The Common Man's Collapse
Again my love for Michael Keene prevails. Aside from the absurd amounts of breakdowns (but they
aren't really breakdowns because they are still pretty quick tempo'd, meh watev) the technicality and
awesomeness of the songs on this album never cease to impress or get stuck in my head. | | 8 | | At the Throne of Judgement The Arcanum Order
This is the newest band I have been introduced to on this list and I consider it one of my favorite CD's
of all time. The song writing is great, the vocalist is strong, and the songs are varied; what more could
you ask for? | | 9 | | At the Gates Slaughter of the Soul
The best CD from one of the biggest influences on BDM and on the genre in general. Nuff said.
Slaughter of the Soul and Cold are perhaps the two best back to back songs on any CD i've ever heard. | | 10 | | Dethklok The Dethalbum
The soundtrack to perhaps the single greatest TV show on Tv now, or ever. No other deathmetal album
will make you laugh while headbanging at the same time like this album does. The only downside to
this album is that arguably their best song Duncan Hills Coffee isn't on it...wtf | | 11 | | Knights of the Abyss Shades
An awesome CD. If you are a fan of BDM this is a must listen, the vocalist sounds a lot like Trevor. | | 12 | | Wretched The Exodus of Autonomy | | 13 | | As Blood Runs Black Allegiance | | 14 | | A Breath Before Surfacing Death Is Swallowed In Victory | | 15 | | Dethklok The Dethalbum II | | 16 | | Neaera Armamentarium | | 17 | | Through the Eyes of the Dead Bloodlust | | 18 | | Opeth Blackwater Park | | 19 | | Abigail Williams Legend | | 20 | | Obscura Cosmogenesis | |
