In Just One Year

In just a year I went from a pop punk to death metal... how did that happen?
1 Slipknot
Vol. 3 The subliminal Verses

The first real metal album that I liked. It was much much heavier than anything else that I had at the time. Pulse of the Maggots and Duality ruled my face.
2Arch Enemy
Rise of the Tyrant

First exposure to melodic death metal. For a long time I couldn't really stomach the album but one day it finally clicked.
3Animosity
Animal

I'll be honest, I only liked this because it was insane. Now of course I realize that it's a technical masterpiece.
4 Carcass
Necrotism Descansting the Insalubrious

I loved this a lot because of how ridiculously disgusting it was. I loved telling people the track names or reading them the lyrics and watch their faces churn.
5Waking the Cadaver
Demo

For about one week I thought this was the most brutal thing ever.
6Edguy
Tinnitus Sanctus

Because of power metal I reverted back to hard rock and that kinda stuff for a long time.
7Wolfchant
Bloody Tales of Disgraced Lands

First folk metal album, also re-introduced me to death metal.
8 Hail of Bullets
Of Frost and War

I'd say this is my first real death metal album with no melodic or technical additives. Just straight up fuckin death metal.
9The Faceless
Planetary Duality

I bought the CD, the T-shirt, hung up the poster, everything. I loved this band so much but I really couldn't get into the genre.
10Ikuinen Kaamos
Closure

This EP changed my world. One of my favorite albums... ever.
11Opeth
Blackwater Park

For a brief period... I was one of 'them'
12Necrophagist
Epitaph

And finally I found a gateway into technical death metal
13Wolves in the Throne Room
Two Hunters

How I met black metal
14Zyklon
Disintegrate

Inspired a week of blackened death madness and a flurry of reviews.
15Conducting from the grave
when legends become dust

Lately I've been into a ton of tech death, USBM and some deathcore here and there. I guess we'll see how it goes.
