| Albums I Get Asked About At Work
I work at a movie rental store, and when it's your shift you're allowed to play whatever music you want, as long as it's clean and "customer friendly". Here is a list of albums that seem to get the most attention. | | 1 | | Radiohead
Kid A, In Rainbows
Unsurprisingly, a lot of people recognize Radiohead a few seconds in, and enjoy discussing their favorite songs/albums with me. For those who don't recognize the band, Kid A and In Rainbows tend to garner the most attention (Mind you I only play a select few songs from Kid A) | | 2 |  | The Beatles
Love
This one is also no surprise, and there's always at least a couple people singing along to whatever favorite Beatles song of theirs is playing. Some people get confused when they hear their favorites off of the Love album, and I'm pretty sure I've helped sell a few copies of that CD in the last few years. | | 3 | | City and Colour
Sometimes, Bring Me Your Love
Being from Canada, this one might not make much sense to very many people, but here Dallas Green's voice seems to be quite instantly recognizable, and often people like to share their opinions of his solo work versus his work with Alexisonfire. | | 4 | | Oceansize
Everyone into Position, Frames
Oceansize's slower, more beautiful songs get asked about quite often, particularly Music for a Nurse, Savant and The Frame. I don't typically play much of their heavier stuff because I don't think it'd go over very well. | | 5 | | Porcupine Tree

I'm really surprised by the number of people who recognize Porcupine Tree right away, way more than I would've expected compared to some of the other names on this list. Particularly popular songs include Trains and Lazarus. | | 6 | | Silversun Pickups
Carnavas, Swoon
I love this band so they tend to be playing for a large majority of the time. Once again the slower songs seem to go over the best, such as Rusted Wheel, Draining and Catch and Release. Lazy Eye gets a whole bunch of comments as well though, including "Hey this is that song from Rock Band!" which is admittedly where I first heard of them as well. | | 7 | | Muse
Absolution, Black Holes and Revelations
I get lots of questions similar to "Is this Radiohead?", "Are you sure this isn't Radiohead?!" and the like. I'm not really sure where the comparison comes from, I personally don't think they sound at all alike other than the vocals on some of the songs. The songs that tend to incite those kinds of questions are the slower ones, such as Sing for Absolution, Falling Away with You, Blackout, etc. Supermassive Black Hole too, for whatever reason. | | 8 | | Thrice

Many a customer has come up and asked me "Is this the same band as the last song that was playing? The singer sounds the same!" which is always good for a laugh. I'm not really surprised, when you jump from Burn the Fleet to Digital Sea to Moving Mountains, and Dustin Kensrue has such a identifiable voice throughout. Transatlanticism, Plans, Narrow Stairs
Like Radiohead, many customers who recognize Death Cab enjoy discussing their favorite songs/albums with me. Those who don't know the band tend to inquire as to who is playing after their more epic songs, like Transatlanticism and I Will Possess Your Heart. Like most of the other bands on this list, the slower songs always seem to do well too, like A Lack of Color and Summer Skin. | | 10 |  | Nine Inch Nails

There are very few Nine Inch Nails songs that I consider "customer friendly", but the few that I play get asked about occasionally. When I tell them it's Nine Inch Nails they're usually pretty surprised, "I didn't know they had songs like that" and the like. Dig Out Your Soul
A lot of people will hear a song like (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady or Falling Down and ask who is playing. When I tell them it's Oasis they're always rather surprised/don't believe me. A great album, in my opinion. | | 12 | | Queens of the Stone Age
Songs for the Dead, Lullabies to Paralyze, Era Vulgaris
A lot of people seem to think Make It wit Chu is a silly sounding song. I guess it is, but I quite like it, so whatever. Other songs that get asked about are I Never Came, Autopilot, and In the Fade, and some people recognize No One Knows and Little Sister, too. | |
