Italy didn't made it, Argentina is competitive but it's running on fumes, whereas Uruguay just isn't the same after the Diego Forlan breed retired. This is probably what FIFA saw beforehand, and expanded the final tally of competing teams. Especially some African teams could reach the final, if they had better coaching (looking at you Senegal and Egypt). Match between France and Morocco is already a premature final.

Norway becoming the new Denmark, love their spirit but the journey has to end vs England. England are the only team that side of the draw I can see beating Spain or France in the final on their day. Argentina were my favourites before the tournament kicked off but they are too all over the place. England have the manager and bench to be unpredictable and adapt against those two.

This is also one of my favourite World Cups because if England were knocked out I can concentrate on the insanity of Spurs transfer window which has mostly been background noise and taken a backseat to the WC so far. Every year there's a number of teams in the PL who spend big and underperform but all you know is all the team's who really join in...their time comes. Spurs have joined that group...so our time will come. It kills the spectacle of the game going back twenty passes or three minutes or whatever. Usually back the underdog but I'm not a big fan of Morocco so looking forward to them getting tonked 5-1 tonight.

The Balogun red card thing is insane and also a hilarious own goal by Infantino. I can never shake the feeling that Argentina get the rub of the green with refs. I can't remember when Iast watched an Argentina world cup game and thought "mmm the refs did them a bit dirty here". France had two blatant pens not given in the group stages, before the Paraguay game, which for about two days was the most disgraceful thing I've seen in football. We've seen FIFA openy favour Ronaldo and the USA while giving in to the American advertising and media industries. I don't think it's necessarily rigged but it stinks. I'm pretty happy with France so far but we haven't had a real test yet. Spain will be a big one. Think they're a level below what they were in the Euros but still a stronger midfield than us and a very good defence. Also Yamal vs Digne makes me nervous... England have been about what I expected, maybe slightly below. I think many English have been underrating them, especially up to the Mexico game, but they still seem so shaky at times and that RB spot is a problem... Kind of annoyed it took two injuries for Belgium including Courtois for Spain to beat Belgium in 90. And I don't wanna talk about the Argentina Vs Egypt game. I haven't felt like that since the Pedro Pascal fight scene in game of thrones (you know the one). Norway have been very impressive but also crazy how dogshit Brazil's midfield is. Won't be an easy game for England but they have to win this
