It's finally over. This stupid Horror Film List Series I started months ago is finally over. This one was the most brutal of all. There are more Dracula films listed but they either A. Didn't actually have Dracula in it. Or B. We're not Horror or Horror adjacent. So I didn't watch them.

06.07.26 | I remember Gerard Butler absolutely not fitting as Dracula in the 2000 movie, even more so than whoever did Dracula in Argento's opus. Although if I'm not wrong, Rutger Hauer plays the role in the sequels, must be a much better choice. Have you watched the 2020 Dracula mini-series with Klas Bang? And Blood for Dracula with Udo Kier? |

Agree, totally... also, I'd actually go further in saying that it's one of the incredibly rare examples where a Hollywood tacked-on love story, actually IMPROVES it beyond the source material.
I think that aspect was superbly handled, and brings far better motivations for the principle characters bring tied together throughout the story. |

06.09.26 | I don't care if it's technically not Dracula, but Shadow of the Vampire deserves to be highlighted. The only studio film directed by E. Elias Merhige (who is famous for his gnarly little indie Begotten, we don't count Suspect Zero) and has Willem Dafoe playing the hell out of Max Shreck. It's a fictionalized take on the production of Nosferatu (where Max Shreck is actually a vampire, a fact known only to the director). |

06.10.26 | Maybe I'm not a huge fan of old films but Dracula (1930) apart from amazing ahead of their time.e set designs and a great first 20 minutes, is overrated and incredibly boring.
Renfield was great
But yeah I don't think Bram stokers Dracula can be beaten

06.10.26 | ^ Yes, that's the one. And it's great... inspite of Keanu doing what he's doing (or you can see it as a plus, if you lean into the camp value). Oldman's amazing in it... Wynona Ryder gives a great performance too, despite her sus accent as well. The sheer scope, cinematography and grandiosity odmf it, plus the aforementioned (in my view, at least) istoryline mprovement to the source material is an absolute win for this adaptation.
Focusing too much on Keanu misses out on the really great bigger picture. It was a popular thing to do at the time, as it was low-hanging fruit for criticism. |

Keanu having a bad accent is no better or worse than Don Cheadle's in the Ocean's Trilogy. It's bad but the movie is great regardless. |

06.10.26 | I also only learned recently that the absurd looking white hair person is Dracula. Every time I've seen a pic of it online I thought the movie was taking the piss.
Anyway, I watched most of it when I got home today. I think the only Dracula I've seen is the Christopher Lee one, so I don't have much to compare. |
