2026 so far

Hey sputnik, no one of you seems to be sharing my tastes but I don't mind so here are some fresh tunes I'm happy I hadn't missed.
1Canaan
For A Bird That Never Flew

Comfortably detached doomwave or ambient rock, AOTY (contender) arrived on January 5th this time around. Continuation of Contro.Luce, one of their best.
2Diorama
A Substitute For Light

Intelligent darkwave synthpop, danceable and doomed.
3Troum
EmphasYs

Drone ambient classics came up with their best album in many years.
4The Void Wanderer
Silent Streets

Mount Shrine-inspired peaceful foggy rainy drones.
5Ascending Divers
My Garden

Ghostly symphonic ambient in vein of HOEDh and Deaf Center.
6Enshine
Elevation

Beauty-and-brutality melodeath crossover from Jari Lindholm.
7Inade + Troum
TO PAN EON

Quite solid industrial-tinged dark ambient from the classics.
8Forlorn Citadel
An Oath Undone

Fantasy dungeon synth black metal, think Summoning and other Caladan Broods.
9Moby
Future Quiet

Quiet and sad, piano-driven version of Moby, what else could be said.
10Tori Amos
In Times of Dragons

Some uneasy David Lynch atmospheres with a pinch of fairy tales, reminding of Angelo Badalamenti and even Portishead.
11Bloody Valkyria
Requiem: Reveries Of The Dying

Catharcic experience in form of fantasy epic black metal, exceptionally talented songwriting and one of the pinnacles of the genre. Highly likely to stay metal AOTY.
