CaliggyJack
05.07.26 | It is not the worst Tekken game and Tekken 8 proves this. |
artiswar
05.07.26 | I fell off after Tekken 7 so you got lucky, I can't dispute your claim |

05.07.26 | Dmc4 is an interesting pick as a favorite from the series. I still actually really like dmc1 though so I get it. Having first two KH games is a mood, I still think about those games often. I dont know which one I actually like more. 3 was a little underwhelming but still just fine. Im mostly checked out on thr story now but ill probably still play 4 when it drops. |
BAT
05.07.26 | Playing Bayonetta for the first time and it's peak, need to go back to my dmc4 save I was doing the legendary dark knight difficulty on a new ps4 save and shit was absolute pain, might pop in my ps3 disc and start over.
Grew up with a lot of these and while they aren't my gotos I am fond of them, like medal of honors great but my memories of the series are permanently attached to allied assault back in the gamespy arcade days. Mario Ds I assume is the 64 port which is pretty controversial among old heads for not having analog percision |

05.07.26 | Its supposed to say Mario Kart DS my bad |

05.07.26 | @artiswar Nope, these are my favorite games. Also fight me Croc is awesome. Just bought the remastered and it still holds up. Croc 2 sucks tho, and Duelists of the Roses is GOATed af. I just bought a PS2 recently solely so I could replay that masterpiece.
@smaugman just because there arent many newer titles on here doesn't mean I don't like New games lol. Also, I'm 31, of course my favorite games are going to be old lol.
@JWT The entire trilogy is awesome but I have a particular fondness for BioShock 2. |

Koris
05.08.26 | Damn, Duelists of the Roses definitely takes me back... same goes for Forbidden Memories and Eternal Duelist Soul (Reshef too, but for all the wrong reasons). Looking back now, I played a lot of the Yu-Gi-Oh games growing up. I even dabbled in the card game itself during high school as well, but I definitely spent more time on the video games... I don't even wanna know how many hours I poured into Forbidden Memories alone (which was ultimately kinda fruitless, since I couldn't even get 20-30 of the cards without a peripheral that came with the Japanese version of the game) |
artiswar
05.08.26 | Ah yes Forbidden Memories where none of the cards had text and the strongest card was Meteor Black Dragon |
Koris
05.08.26 | Oh, and I forgot to mention Nightmare Troubadour for the DS. That's the other Yu-Gi-Oh game I played a lot. And out of all the ones I mentioned, it's definitely the closest to the actual card game rules-wise |
CaliggyJack
05.08.26 | @artiswar AKCHUWALLY the strongest were two Twin Headed Thunder Dragons |

There's not enough to describe how much Vexx means to me, I got the game when it came out for Christmas completely by accident. Outside of Croc and Spyro 1, I'd never really played many platforms. I remember seeing Timberdale for the first time and losing my shit, it was the most beautiful place I'd ever seen, while Nelson Everheart's soundtrack completely floored me with it's epic symphony. I could fight monsters, collect beating hearts, and do whatever I want. Every minute I discovered something new and exciting while trying to solve the riddles that explain where each heart was, and best of all, I COULD MANIPULATE THE TIME OF DAY. And then, after hours of just running around I came to the Hub room and remembered, THIS IS JUST THE FIRST AREA. Now take everything I just said and repeat it for Dragonreach, The Neverglades, Tempest Peak Manor, The Below, Daggercrag, Summit of the Sages and on and on. Before Vexx I was a kid who enjoyed video games but didn't think of them beyond a small past time. Vexx completely changed how I viewed video games, I became a massive video game lover and fanatic for the medium. I fucking love this game. |

The specific game choice aside, is the suggestion here that a person's favourite games ever should be completely based on how recently they came out? It's like saying that only new movies are good, because SFX are (supposedly) better.
There's wider criteria for what makes something a "favourite". |

I have always wanted to play Duelist of the Roses... they really really need to port that to the Switch.
Kingdom Hearts series is goated.
God of War 2 was good.. but I thought 3 blew it out of the water.
Some of my PS2 Favorites:
Need for Speed Most Wanted
NFL Street 2
Soul Calibur 3
Golden Eye Rogue Agent
007 Agent Under Fire |

Definitely not, but it makes me think he hasn't played a game in the last 20 years. There are loads of classics on older consoles. I have multiple 10/10s that are back from the NES/Super Nintendo/Genesis days. But there have been numerous incredible games in the last couple decades. And I mean... Medal of Honour? That wasn't even top of its genre in its heyday, but it's borderline unplayable by today's standards. Even back when it dropped, I thought it was clunky, and shooting people just didn't feel responsive. And Mario Kart DS? I get loving that game and having so much nostalgia wrapped up in it, but Wii, 8, and DD all clear DS by a mile. Vexx is also a baffling choice for #1. It's not a bad game per se but it makes me think this is a pure nostalgia list from a casual gaming pov. And if that's the case, there's nothing wrong with that, but I thought Caliggy was a gamer. |
Brabiz
05.13.26 | 25 is based af. That game is awesome |
AlkemestRedux
05.13.26 | I always wanted to play Age of Mythology but I think my family computer was just competent enough to run AoE2 which I played the shit out of, but not quite good enough for the more graphically demanding games like Mythology and by the time I got my own computer or a job many years later it was too late. Could probably find a good updated version now but idk if it would hit the same. It's like my own mini video game hauntological experience thinking about the what ifs lol
Medal of Honor is still fun though. I actually bought a copy of it from Good Old Games during the pandemic and played a bit. Although my hands down favorite shooters from back in the day are Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Bad Company 2.
Now days I find myself playing Pubg almost exclusively, or Valheim when I want to slow things down. Used to play a lot for Counter Strike too but my wifi kinda sucks in the new place. |

05.13.26 | 3 is also based. Deception is my favorite MK game, but that one is also great |

"And I mean... Medal of Honour? That wasn't even top of its genre in its heyday, but it's borderline unplayable by today's standards."
This is just not true at all. The game literally ignited the WW2 shooter craze that dominated the 2000s because of how successful it was. Also it plays perfectly fine.
"And Mario Kart DS? I get loving that game and having so much nostalgia wrapped up in it, but Wii, 8, and DD all clear DS by a mile. Vexx is also a baffling choice for #1. It's not a bad game per se but it makes me think this is a pure nostalgia list from a casual gaming pov."
If this were a Top 25 Games of all time, this list would be very different. But it isn't, it's a "My 25 Favorite Video Games" list.
@Alkemest

I highly recommend the remake. They did such a good job on it without sacrificing the core of what made the game so good.
