04.13.26 | Drums still sound kinda weird and mechanical but there's some really wonderful stuff especially on these tracks where you get weird and slow and atmospheric. Think you could do some great stuff pursuing an Oranssi Pazuzu type sound. |

Unsure of what to do about the drums though, maybe some more EQ work and messing with the velocity of hits? Idk.
My band with a full lineup is working on our debut, and that’s been thousands of dollars and nearly a decade of refinement. So perhaps after that’s done, I can ask our drummer to do some work with Black Usurper. Or look into a session musician. |

04.13.26 | Programming drums well really is an art for the non drummer songwriter, I'm always learning new stuff. For me it was some of the cymbals, and some of it is just how the samples sound I think. |

04.13.26 | I think with this style of metal and especially the production you can get away with almost anything. For sure playing with the accents helps, but if you write like someone would actually play then that helps more I think. |

04.13.26 | I would definitely appreciate the help, man. I typically just do whatever I think sounds interesting, and drums are probably the last thing I’m familiar with when it comes to writing music. My thought process is usually “oh that sounds weird, I’ll do that”
But if at the end of the day, it’s having a negative impact, it’s definitely something I should focus more on learning or getting help with. |

04.13.26 | While I haven’t written anything yet, I am planning on exploring some more simplistic, mid-era Darkthrone, punk influenced / doom-y stuff, while fleshing out the strange elements of this album.
Maybe going more raw and demo sounding.

I've emailed them asking about trying to get copies of their records in the US but the tariffs are making that unlikely. Copies of their first two albums and Spiritual Independence would be awesome. |
