omik1116 04.06.26	@budgie I need to listen through saxon shore's discography again, my favorite has historically been "it doesn't matter" but that could change. Agreed that hammock and twdy are essential, but idk they just haven't been scratching the post-rock itch recently. Will add the s/t though. Need to revisit les discrets - haven't listened to that album in like 10 years but remember liking. I've never been able to get into mogwai but maybe it just needs to click.

budgie 04.07.26	so much of saxons shores discog sounds so dull to me most of the time. but once in a while i have a craving for that four months EP and its just so soothing, like post rock for a spa and on the total flip side that twdy s/t is so emotionally taxing i have to like mentally gather myself before jamming it get it about hammock, their most post rock albums are still like 60% ambient, but when they hit they hit, the t/t to raising your voice has got to be my fav post rock track

Gonna hold on Mono until I can run through some of their older stuff first. I think i slightly preferred "one more step" but haven't listened in a couple years tbh @loulou love the rec, haven't even heard of these guys (exactly what I'm looking for) - will check @budgie just like you described the feeling with the saxon shore ep, i'm kinda there with post-rock as a whole rn. I haven't been as engaged with the genre recently but I've been jamming the new barrens album nonstop the past few weeks and I'm riding the high

I added clear language but agreed that the discog is fantastic. really just don't like stranger - everything else is fantastic (haven't heard the most recent though) @arsmoriendi, scott solid recs, definitely in the queue. I liked the most recent tacoma narrows album but never checked the back catalog. Not huge on sleepmakeswaves but will check again (always thought maybeshewill did the same sound better) @cylinder i can only get the obscure recs through you, i think you recommended hawks those peter wright ambient albums a few months back and those are still in my rotation

Still, if you really want to dive deep, here are some recs that have not been mentioned yet (that are not purely but still very much 'post rock'): Oceansize - Frames, Dionaea - Still, Maruja - Pain to Power, Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It in People, O'Brother - Garden Window, Crippled Black Phoenix - Ellengaest, Pretend - Tapestry'd Life, Jaga Jazzist - What We Must, The Samuel Jackson Five - Easily Misunderstood, Solstafir - Otta, and Lvmen - Mondo.

Will add some ratings as I go through these this week. @ghost never really liked alcest tbh (recognizing that i'm in the minority) @mystagogus magyar posse sounds promising, added. i initially left off twdy and mono intentionally but due to popular demand they're both on here now lol @memento great picks, lots I need to check. The o'brother and pretend albums are some of my all time favorites but would definitely argue that those aren't really post-rock (esp o'brother). Really intrigued by dionaea and broken social scene, will listen
MementoMori 04.07.26	Ah yes, should have also checked your ratings to make sure I did not add anything redundant. Dionaea is a trip (post rock mixed with some kind of mathy 'grindcore'). Broken Social Scene's best material is the earlier stuff, imo: like most discographies its quality tails off as you reach closer to the present. Whether or not something qualifies as post rock I suppose depends on your definition (I can imagine one might prefer to classify O'Brother as more alt/prog rock and Pretend as more math than post rock, but still there is clearly a 'post-rock' influence there).
