03.29.26 | They made a TV show? Few of these I've not heard of and I was pretty sure if seen like all the crossover nonsense. Ju on the grudge is the best one for sure, the sequels fun and so are the curse movies(why 2 so low, kinda blurs together with the first but that's the one with the sake bit?). Kinda hate the American grudge, trying to convert it to a non vignette format just makes it a complete mess. The sequels are actually pretty fun and resemble the Japanese movies more. But yeah the ju-ons have great atmosphere eveeen when they're a bit schlocky |

03.29.26 | 12 is the only one ive seen in full and i liked it it feels very mean spirited like evil dead 2013. straight up no punches pulled mean scary horror story that has no other purpose but to make you feel bad
think it suffered a bit from being disjointed but ya pretty good |

03.29.26 | Watch ju-on the grudge, it's kind of like a remake compilation** of the direct to video ju-on curses. Was the basis for the American grudge which is the basis for the 2019 one(haven't got around to it buuut had pretty rough reception at the time.) Pretty much all the movies are disjointed, they're like a series of shorts revolving around a characters encounter, some intersect some don't. The American remake tried to move away from that format and have Michelle gellar involved in every story, guessing the 2019 one also does a similar thing with a single protagonist hence the disjointed feel. All the other grudge movies/sequels follow the shorts/vignette format |

03.29.26 | i'll probably give it a go sometime in fall, the japanese movies are part of my halloween ritual. will probably give the origins movie a go aswell has like an 80 on rt which is surprising for a 2020s grudge movie lol. last one i saw was sadako vs kayako annnnd honestly felt like a parody of the two series lol
and budgie i think the movies aren't for everybody but compared to something like ringu/darkwater they're very unsubtle, thick atmosphere but fairly fast paced compared to the Hideo Nakata-type jhorror movies. coincidentally sam ramai was the one who campaigned the series into america/remakes/etc so there is a bit of a loose evil dead connection. it's a love it/hate it series buuut it's been a constant in my rotation since i was like 11-12, definitely a vibes thing |
