Discog run: Motorhead

OH YEAH BROTHER IT'S THAT TIME
1Motorhead
Motörhead

The OG debut. Imagine if this had never been made? Bleak my friends, bleak. Has all the pieces to their sound but still rough around the edges.

3.5/5
2Motorhead
Overkill

Man this one ripped. The jump in focus between these two records is wild. Gonna have to give it some more listens because it's giving Ace of Spades a run for its money.

4.7/5
3Motorhead
Bomber

The bluesy licks on this one and slower grooves are really cool. A slightly different flavor of Motorhead.

4.2/5
4Motorhead
On Parole

skipped for now, basically a rerecording of their debut
5Motorhead
Ace Of Spades

Classic.

6Motorhead
Iron Fist

This had some killer tracks. Don't Let 'em Grind You Down and Iron Fist are amazing.

4.2/5
7Motorhead
Another Perfect Day

A consistent album but a little less memorable and unhinged than the previous albums. Still a blast but also an adjustment to a new member.

On second listen after finishing the discog run this album sounds lot better, probably top 5 tbh. It's just a bit jarring in the flow of the discog on first brush.

Orgasmatron

Another solid slab of Motorhead that saw the band return to the more aggressive sound found on earlier albums. It comes with mixed results. There was guitarist churn and it shows here. Nothing on this record is bad but it's not particularly memorable, and on Another Perfect Day at least they were trying something new. All that said, it provides a good amount of fist pumping moments.

3.7/5
9Motorhead
Rock 'N' Roll

It is indeed classic Motorhead but doesn't hit as hard and feels a bit phoned in. Some great songs though like Stone Deaf in the USA, but overall not as good as either of the preceding records, or any of the previous albums really. Not bad, just kinda meh.

1916

A true return to form. Killer riffs and memorable songs. The best since Another Perfect Day.

4.4/5
11Motorhead
March Ör Die

Slump album is slump. Feels even more phoned in than Rock 'N' Roll, even though there's the cool duet with Ozzy. Lemmy must've been asleep at the wheel.

2.8/5
12Motorhead
Bastards

This is top-tier Motorhead. Everything about it works and works well. There's aggression, kickass lyrics, gnarly instrumentation and a nice variety of songs. I could see this landing in the top 5 Motorhead albums for me.

4.5/5
13Motorhead
Sacrifice

Probably my least favorite Motorhead so far. Everything that makes Motorhead cool is dialed way back. Some really awkward attempts at groove metal too. Makes March or Die look like a masterpiece.

2.4/5
14Motorhead
Overnight Sensation

A lot better than Sacrifice but overall a pretty average Motorhead album. 'I Don't Believe A Word' is solid, and 'Shake the World' has some interesting heavier metal influences too.

3.5/5
15Motorhead
Snake Bite Love

The music on here is fine, and even sometimes great especially when it leans into heavier styles like on the first two tracks. The lyrics, however, are consistently stupid. Motorhead doesn't need good lyrics, but they have to be cool, and they're frequently cheesy here. Overall, an ok album.

We Are Motörhead

I'm running out of things to say about Motorhead albums hah! You can tell if it's gonna be a good one or not just by how it makes you feel. Does it kick ass? Check yes or no. I'm checking yes on this one.

17Motorhead
Hammered

Another solid entry but it took me a couple tries to get through this one.

3.2/5
18Motorhead
Inferno

Firing on all cylinders once again! Killer Motorhead album. His voice keeps aging like peated whiskey.

4.1/5
19Motorhead
Kiss Of Death

Another ballsy Motorhead album with some real standout tracks. RIP Phil.

4/5
20Motorhead
Motörizer

It's got everything - it's catchy, aggressive and groovy as hell. This final Motorhead stretch is wylin out.

4.2/5
21Motorhead
The Wörld Is Yours

The consensus on this is correct. It's a decent album but fails to hit the highs of the previous few albums.

3.5/5
22Motorhead
Aftershock

Loved this one. A late career slice of Motorhead gold. It has a ton of killer songs with badass lyrics and the instrumentals are fun and full of energy.

4/5
23Motorhead
Bad Magic

This was my first Motorhead album and I still love it. Maybe it's a little less all-out than their other recent albums, but in a lot of ways it's a perfect capstone for the band. Till the End and When The Sky Comes Looking for You hit different after this discog run. RIP Lemmy, RIP Phil.

No Sleep 'til Hammersmith

Live album

What a legendary show and a fantastic live record. The rock n roll will never die! Motorhead lives eternal.
