02.10.26 | Part 9 of a 'sort of' countdown of the Top 1000 bands of my life - in terms of both IMPACT and QUALITY, some more one than the other.
Welcome to the second highest level of doofcore - positions 101-200! All these bands have had some sort of impact on my taste and/or I've listened to a lot...and I'd say perhaps half of these picks I'd feel comfortable featuring in the top 100 but had to make do here.
So some tough picks, but top 200 is an achievement in its own right and I'll die on the hill defending any of these acts. Don't you dare test me! |

02.10.26 | A fair few of my faves here.
Mogwai, Underworld, Richard Hawley, Pistols, Gavin Clark
Always nice to see Blind Melon. |

02.10.26 | Blind Melon 12 months ago would have probably ended up in Tier 9 or 10...but they're one of my most played this year, started returning to them the end of last year.
'Soup' is close to a classic for me now. |

02.10.26 | 'Mogwai, Underworld, Richard Hawley, Pistols, Gavin Clark'
In the top comment I said about half this list I'd be happy if they'd featured in the Top 100 and all those would qualify.
They're all top half of this list. |
Hawks
02.10.26 | Lots of great picks here Doofster. |

02.12.26 | Darlin' off of 69 kills me every time. Love Hawley's stuff. |

02.13.26 | Same.
He would be top 30 for me. That album is an all timer. |

02.13.26 | He’s one that in five years time could be top 100, for sure. |

02.13.26 | This one is quite heavy on the bands I just could not get on board with
TV on the Radio - Never understood the hype
Bloc Party - FIFA fodder
Clutch - Nonsense
DJ Shadow - Overrated
Korn - Cock
Loscil - Lite
War on Drugs - No strut
Chameleons - Nope

02.13.26 | Korn are still really enjoyable, actually a bigger band than Deftones for me, they became arena rockstars in a way Deftones never did, so unlikely it’s brilliant. If the list was purely impact then they make the top 100 along with Guns n Roses and Tool !
Bloc Party, TVOTR, War on Drugs all big on impact at the time, not in heavy rotation now admittedly.
I revisited the huge Clutch discog recently, as my dad said with Clutch “I can’t really tell if they’re good or bad” - I think he meant he couldn’t tell how seriously you’re meant to take them - but we used to put them on a bit, they straddle that line.
Loscil is one of my favourites the last two years, hibernation fuel. Good for light hangover listening too! The music sounds lonely even by ambient standards.
Endtroducing’s impact is overrated when the critics called him the sampling Hendrix! but his early stuff is great up to Private Press, he was the best of the Mo Wax scene.
Chameleons I didn’t really get on first exposure soon after joining here - then I revisited as Boney started 5’ing their albums. They clicked with a second big exploration. |
