02.04.26 | Part 5 of a 'sort of' countdown of the Top 1000 bands of my life - in terms of both IMPACT and QUALITY, some more one than the other.
Welcome to the sixth highest level of doofcore - positions 501-600! All these bands have had some sort of impact on my taste and/or I've listened to a lot...but this selection is all about that cut off isn't it? Deciding which bands would fall this side of the top 500 was one of the bigger set of choices in ordering this top 1000.
Any of these particularly unlucky not to make the Top 500? |

02.04.26 | Okay. This category is very much non-specific outside of a vague ‘they nearly made my top 500’, so I was right in a way, haha
I was expecting something deeper yet this is certainly easier on my cognition when whole debacle is ranked, but not really ranked. Devilishly fiendish of you old chap.
Close to the Edge at 100 is both fitting & a power move. Respect.
Dots & Loops is the one I yearn to be placed higher. Moon Safari better not beat it!
(SATH, Susumu & Mental Vortex to lesser extents too). |

02.04.26 | Artists not albums so yes, Air will feature higher, apologies.
Stereolab are as high as this for quality and as low as this for limited impact. I've never gone on a Stereolab binge, maybe I should.
Yes are one of the most Jekyll & Hyde bands on this list, so destined to sit outside the top 500. |

Yeah, degrees of good is where we're headed now, more a 'name the lyric reference' now. |

02.05.26 | Suede, The Levellers and Frank Black were the big ones for me in my teen years.
I had a very prominent Pixies/Frank Black mid-late 90s.
8,42,49 are stunning albums.
49 is an all timer for me. |

Great albums but as bands they're all scoring low on impact...Halsall and Lankum I've only know of the last two years, and the Beth albums are more respect than love for me.
Suede would have been Tier 10 if you'd have taken away the last two most recent albums. The Levellers again was a big breakthrough last year or so, they wouldn't have made this list if I'd put it up three years ago...despite their albums being played a load at school I thought they were shite back then. |
