Something a little different. I used to DJ for a while before the pandemic hit, and was in the rave scene for like a decade. Mostly I liked good dubstep (read: non-brostep and not riddim), dark dnb and smatterings of house, techno and trip hop.
I have four now, but I'll probably add more as I remember them. | | 1 | | Truth Hollow World
Iconic Truth mix at Shambhala. I saw this one live and it was mind blowing. The Grove is hands down the best stage at Shambs. Truth kicked ass before they turned into a merch cult.

Not a Dub Phizix mix, but it does start with one of their songs. This mix got me into dnb. I'd been exposed to it by my friends who mixed it, but it was always just 'oh that's the fast genre' to me. This mix made the whole genre really click. Grym is a local legend here in Seattle.

Trip hop used to be my go-to for dialing into work, and that meant looking up a mix by Confused bi-Product of a Misinformed Culture. The person behind it has been pumping out fun mixes for a very long time. this is one of my favorites.

Pretty much any of the Excision Shambhala mixes from 2008-2010 are golden. They're perfect time capsules for a very brief period of time when brostep was actually still bass music (and good) before it turned into whatever obnoxious shit it morphed into. I went to my first rave in 2010 and was blown away by this style of dubstep, and still love it tbh.

Stickybuds is the master of electro-funk, upbeat dnb, etc etc. His live mixes are legendary. Father Funk and and Slynk are also wild.

02.02.26 | Love this list idea. Been raving regularly myself since 2013 and still go out when I can despite being more picky these days. Music keeps me alive and happy. Next show for me will likely be DJ Stingray in a few weeks | jrlikestodance
02.02.26 | Darwin played one of the best dubstep sets I've seen recently last year. Def check her label SP:EC for some proper modern dubs | AlkemestRedux
02.02.26 | Oh hell yeah I'll check em out! I've been out of the loop with new dance music since the pandemic but occasionally I pop back in to see what's happening. | AlkemestRedux
02.02.26 | I have been thinking of doing some subscriptions to ZamZam Sounds. I think they're still doing it, but you can pay them like $60 and they ship you their next five releases or something like that. Awesome dubby dubstep. |
