02.01.26 | Part 2 of a 'sort of' countdown of the Top 1000 bands of my life - in terms of both IMPACT and QUALITY, some more one than the other.
Welcome to the second lowest level of doofcore - positions 801-900! All these bands have had some sort of impact on my taste and/or I've listened to a lot...but in most cases the majority of their impact is based on one (maybe two) standout albums.
This might be a particularly obscure subset of acts... |
Hawks
02.01.26 | Doof, this is impressive as hell. Dedication HARD. |
DoofDoof
02.01.26 | Cheers Hawks, I couldn't do a pure Top 1000 based on quality alone but judging mostly on the impact bands have had on my listening works I think. |
Hawks
02.01.26 | Agreed brother, this is a great concept for a list. |
RVAHC13
02.01.26 | In fairness some of these are the only albums these bands put out. I know this is only relative to what impacted you but I must say though 1, 14, 15, 26, 50, 68, 77 and 82 all have multiple good albums. |
zakalwe
02.01.26 | Deafheaven!
no |
RVAHC13
02.01.26 | Yeah well that one’s debatable I guess |
DoofDoof
02.01.26 | "No, too low!" or "No, why are they here at all"? |
DoofDoof
02.01.26 | '...but I must say though 1, 14, 15, 26, 50, 68, 77 and 82 all have multiple good albums.'
Yeah, I said it's a general trend I saw in the picks, it isn't how I chose these selections, quite a few of these have a few great albums (Zakk Wylde? Toby Driver?) but I wanted a sort of theme for most of the tier levels and there are effectively quite a few 'one album wonders' here (maybe over half of these picks?) |
RVAHC13
02.01.26 | I understand now, nice to see the Plug plug btw |
DoofDoof
02.01.26 | I'd have said Wagon Christ too...only I've never actually checked any Wagon Christ outside of a few tracks.
'Drum n Bass for Papa' is actually my most played Vibert. |
RVAHC13
02.01.26 | I used to have a drum n bass hour on a local station Monday nights at 8 with my friend a while back and I think we played Delicious off that album |
DoofDoof
02.01.26 | You're making me want to revisit..probably been five years |
zakalwe
02.01.26 | Why are they here doof.
Shite. |
DoofDoof
02.01.26 | I listened to 'Sunbather' and 'New Bermuda' a fair bit at the time, I was a bit Pitchfork captured back then which is sad to admit to.
I still consider them 'Pitchfork metal' tbh, bit indie trendy, but I don't think they're totally vacuous, got some post-rock/post-metal elements which are well done at times. |

02.01.26 | Also: great 45+ minutes of football in that second half! |
zakalwe
02.01.26 | Agreed! |
NudeTayne
02.02.26 | 33 goes hard, Demon Dayz is part of my coming of age years
@RVAHC13 dnb is criminally underrated here these days |
DoofDoof
02.02.26 | There will be quite a few dnb artists in the higher tiers, have no fear |
NudeTayne
02.02.26 | snoogins |
Kingdok
02.02.26 | Baby Chaos, Kerbdog, Send No Flowers... like I'm reliving my teen years. Nice list dude! |
DoofDoof
02.02.26 | ‘Baby Chaos, Kerbdog, Send No Flowers... like I'm reliving my teen years’
There will be more nostalgic nuggets like these later in this list series too! |
zakalwe
02.02.26 | I loved the Kerbdog debut back in the day |
DoofDoof
02.02.26 | Zak - I know that one less well but the times I’ve checked it I liked it. |
Demon of the Fall
02.04.26 | a My Virtiol sighting in 2026! Nostaliga
60, 64, 68 all makes sense to me (Mono do have other decent albums but that's certainly 'the one'). Sandwell District too. They released something new last year which I did enjoy a reasonable amount, but still.
I like Shellac generally but that is also 'the one' by a distance in my book.
Cool list. |
rabidfish
02.04.26 | New Joanne Robertson was really good. Deserved to be talked about a lot more. |
DoofDoof
02.04.26 | Demon - I’ve seen My Vitriol live twice, once within last ten years, so still alive somewhere in my heart.
That’s the only Mono I got majorly into, purchased the CD for that one, have tried a few others of theirs too but only dabbled.
Stoked you’re finding a lot to agree with in this series, I was worried it was a totally nonsensical enterprise :D |
DoofDoof
02.04.26 | rabidfish - definitely my fave of hers so far, contender for ‘best album atmosphere 2025’ maybe |
