12.25.25 | Really need to pick up a Rotting Christ album but I'm torn because I want like five at a minimum lol |

12.25.25 | "CDs are still the best form of music media in my opinion"
this is objectively correct; CDs also bring the best quality of sound. unfortunately, space prevents me from buying anymore lol i have well over 1000 |
AlkemestRedux
12.25.25 | That's an impressive collection! How do you keep them organized? |
DrGonzo1937
12.25.25 | i have a massive cd unit, but i've filled it and dont want to get another one as it'll fill my living room to the point of making it look cluttered (i hate clutter lol). same with vinyl, i've maxed out on that too. but i've been collecting cds for well over 20 years now, and very rarely got rid of any of them. with all mediums of entertainment i collect physicals primarily for the quality they provide over streaming, but one of the main advantages to it is you're not beholden to streaming services and whether its even going to be available anymore. you can literally listen/watch/play what you want when you want. something i always advocate to people.
tl;dr, streaming is dogshit -- always buy physical. plus, in the case of artists, it really helps them out to buy something like that. |

12.25.25 | nice selection of cds btw. if you're looking for cheap cds get them off music magpie. can get some serious albums for pennies at this point. |

12.25.25 | yeah i have the "buy tickets and merch, download files" type of attitude for music. there's cool stuff that you don't get on stuff like streaming and even downloading. my favorite is my CD of Age of Clitoral Decay from Lividity, which has a beefy booklet full of lyrics, thank you's, and a tribute to a late bandmate. and some more. can't replicate that in quite the same fashion over a block of text, |

there's also some really cool cds out there. i did a blog a couple years ago that had two of my most interesting cd releases. love it when artists think outside the box.

12.25.25 | Closing in on 1000 CDs myself, still on the hunt for a new shelving unit for them since I've run out of room on my current shelf. |

12.25.25 | Started collecting about 2 years ago and have a couple hundred at this point - between savers and a 'everything's 2 dollars' giant cd/dvd thrift store near me, I've found so much stuff that I like, new bands, and also just some real good deals on obscure stuff. Physical always (unless I'm pirating it) |

12.25.25 | Got my Sony portable discman in the mail yesterday, gonna go walking with it and without my phone, god bless CDs |

12.26.25 | Agreed yeah CDs are the way! And hell yeah on the walkman, I feel like any time you can look at a screen less it's a win honestly. |
Confessed2005
12.26.25 | No word of a lie, If I'd of kept every CD I'd ever had and put them in a collection, we're talking between 600-800 albums.
15 was also present at some stage. |
brickhed
12.26.25 | i really like cassettes but getting the music i like on it is hard to find for me. so i have to stick to cd's. plus cassettes are getting so expensive nowadays that it's much cheaper to get a cd. |
AlkemestRedux
12.30.25 | Man that's a ton of CDs. I've always had a rotating cast of ~75 or so. Sometimes I remember ones I used to have that I wish I still did like Terror - Keepers of the Faith or the many, many Norma Jean albums I've had that all disappeared after friends borrowed them lol |
Pooter9000
12.31.25 | Just picked up Clayman by In Flames at a local physical media shop for $8, in great condition |
AlkemestRedux
12.31.25 | Oh hell yeah that's a good deal! |

01.14.26 | Finally decided on a Rotting Christ cd to pick up first. It was hard since there are so many good ones lol |
AlkemestRedux
03.04.26 | Snagged what's allegedly a double digipack of Powerslave/Somewhere In Time for a pretty reasonable price. Gotta wait until they get here on Friday to see if they're legit though lol |

03.04.26 | 'unfortunately, space prevents me from buying anymore lol i have well over 1000'
I had over 2000 but had to make space so the most 'unloved' CDs I dumped the cases and put them into those CD storage wallet cases where you just keep the disc. Got three of those! |
Pooter9000
03.04.26 | Picked up the new Cryptic Shift, cant fucking wait |
AlkemestRedux
03.05.26 | Oh hell yeah! I still have to listen to the whole album but the singles sounded sweet. |
Titan
03.05.26 | 7, 11, 29, and 30 hells yes |

03.06.26 | I'm hitting some of the classics! The Maiden cds came in today and they go hard. Got a sweet deal on a double digipak, which I was a little skeptical of, but they are in fact the actual cds. |
Pooter9000
03.06.26 | The self-titled was one of my very first CDs and a gateway into metal. I still play it once a month. |
AlkemestRedux
03.07.26 | It's so good! All of early Maiden is sweet as hell.
Also, the Negative Plane cd finally arrived after getting lost in the mail and having to be re-shipped. Can't wait to jam it today! |
Pooter9000
03.08.26 | How was it? |
AlkemestRedux
03.08.26 | I've unfortunately had to wait to jam it lol but gonna crack open a beer later tonight and hopefully give it a spin. I've heard it before, but it'll probably sound better through real speakers. One of the upsides of being a former local dj is I still have all the gear and some nice studio speakers. It only cost me my dignity! |
Titan
03.08.26 | 40th anniversary deluxe Grace Under Pressure is $300 for cd version. Crazy thing about it is I want it. |
AlkemestRedux
03.08.26 | Hey sometimes you just gotta go all out! I hope one day to add .357 String Band's 'Fire & Hail' to my collection on vinyl, but there were only like 1,000 ever pressed and the band has been broken up for like 15 years so they're probably never reprinting. But it's my favorite country album, so when it comes up used on discogs I'll probably have to fork over the $200 or whatever lol |
Titan
03.08.26 | at least there's good reason for it to be expensive because it's a rarity.......GUP is a cash grab... |
