Rotting Christ Discog Run

So many albums! So little time.
1Rotting Christ
Thy Mighty Contract

4.5/5

The riffs on this one are front and center and go hard. It's black metal that makes you wanna buy a motorcycle.
2Rotting Christ
Non Serviam

5/5

Absolute classic. It's melodic, crushing and triumphant. Just when you think you have this album figured out it throws you a curve ball. Maybe that's a more traditional blasty Norwegian segment, or haunting synths, or maybe it's stomping melodic black metal. Awesome album all around.
3Rotting Christ
Triarchy of the Lost Lovers

4.4/5

The production quality finally matched up with the quality of the songs. Lots of melody here like on the previous two albums, but it doesn't seem to hit quite as hard. Still a great listen though.
4Rotting Christ
A Dead Poem

4.1/5

Moving into their Gothic phase and it works surprisingly well. Production sounds even better than Triarchy and the riffs are beautiful. I do miss the aggressive parts from earlier records but this is a solid and moody album.
5Rotting Christ
Sleep of the Angels

3.8/5

The progression towards almost exclusively gothic metal is solid. The black metal takes a back seat here but Rotting Christ pulls it off well though. I've never been a huge fan of the 'sp00ky sounding man mumbling over riffs' style of gothic music (and admittedly I'm not terribly familiar with the genre beyond a couple of the big bands) but they do that relatively sparingly in this album and retain the almighty riffs, so it's all like, copacetic, man.
6Rotting Christ
Khronos

2.7/5

Did not like this one. Seems like even the band was realizing their whole gothic pivot was running out of steam. There are a handful of good songs but the signal to cheese ratio is off on the rest.
7Rotting Christ
Genesis

3.2/5

Genesis was better. You can hear them adding metal back in, but while there are more strong songs there's still a lot of cheese. The closing track was awesome though.
8Rotting Christ
Sanctus Diavolos

3.1/5

A decent album but it feels like a lot of these songs were just slapped together. Almost every song has at least one really cool passage, but they don't really go anywhere. A couple really good songs too but overall I feel it's maybe a hair weaker than Genesis but still better than Khronos.
9Rotting Christ
Theogonia

4.5/5

The boys are back and more badass than ever. The folk elements they're starting to incorporate are fantastic.
10Rotting Christ
Aealo

5/5

Absolutely loved this album. The female vocals are next level and the final track really landed well. I'll definitely keep coming back to this. I think this is the most fun of the modern Rotting Christ albums for me.
11Rotting Christ
Kata Ton Demona Eaftou

5/5

The modern classic. Everything came together in such a refined and intense way. I'm sure I could find something to nitpick here but why bother, it's so good.
12Rotting Christ
Rituals

4/5

The first Rotting Christ album I ever listened to. It's fun if a bit disjointed.
13Rotting Christ
The Heretics

4.1/5

I think this is the peak of their new pagan power gothic metal or whatever you want to call it. I like it honestly, the fourth incarnation of this band rules.
14Rotting Christ
Pro Xristou

3.8/5

Basically the same thoughts as The Heretics, only this does seem a bit samey. Still kicks ass though.
