Hawks
10.27.25 | Have fun! One of the best bm bands ever. |
AlkemestRedux
10.27.25 | It's off to a good start! I was tossing around some other bands I've heard some albums by like Aborted or Immolation, but wanted something a little more out there. |
Hawks
10.27.25 | Very good choice! |
Veldin
10.28.25 | I absolutely love BAN!! Hope you have fun with the discog. Their last 3 albums have been fantastic. 7 is one of my favorite metal albums full stop |
swallowtales
10.28.25 | Prepare thyself for Procession of the Dead Clowns, for that shit rules |
AlkemestRedux
10.29.25 | Dead Clows did indeed rule! Genuinely unsettling black metal albums are surprisingly hard to come by, but so far these have been rad. |
Hawks
10.29.25 | M///// |
AlkemestRedux
10.30.25 | I think Dialogue With the Stars is one of the best tracks I've ever heard honestly. That was so good. |
Hawks
10.30.25 | Yep! |
Christbait
10.30.25 | Deus Salutis Meae is the soundtrack to night terrors. It is a truly unpleasant listen. It's pretty great. |
Hawks
10.30.25 | That album is definitely underrated. |
AlkemestRedux
11.03.25 | Sect(s) was decent, nothing really stopped me in my tracks like on Dialogue with the Stars though. Listening to 777 - The DeSanctification now with low hopes but an open mind lol |
Hawks
11.03.25 | The 777 albums are their only duds other than MoRT for me. Boring albums. |
AlkemestRedux
11.03.25 | Yeah, DeSanctification has been pretty lackluster so far. Epitome VIII was good but the rest has been mid. I actually liked MoRT because it was so weird and unsettling even though it was mostly just shifting textures. Kinda like a bad acid trip lol |
Hawks
11.03.25 | A lot of people dig MoRT, just not my thing lol. |
botb
11.03.25 | I’m due a discog run of these guys too |
AlkemestRedux
11.03.25 | It's been pretty fun hearing their sound evolve, would definitely recommend! |
Hawks
11.03.25 | Same. |
Veldin
11.03.25 | Damn brother, you’ve been burning thru their discog!! Happy to see you’ve been enjoying them so much. 13-15 are an absolute treat |
AlkemestRedux
11.03.25 | It definitely makes having a (mostly) email and writing job easier when I can listen through some discogs haha
I just started Hallucinogen and this is indeed the big tonal shift I was hoping for. It's so good already. |
Veldin
11.03.25 | Haha nice. I had a job like that and went thru Swans discog and it was such a memorable experience.
YES, they’ve been on FIRE since Hallucinogen |
Veldin
11.04.25 | Btw after Hallucinogen, Vindsval released a project, Forhist, that’s worth jamming for continuity’s sake (and it’s fun!) |
Christbait
11.04.25 | Yeah, talking about tonal shifts, Hallucinogen is another bit of whiplash coming after DSM. |
AlkemestRedux
11.04.25 | Thanks Veldin! Going through the Swans discography sounds terrifying, but also maybe something I should finally do too. And I checked out a song from Forhist, sounds great and seems like more nature-themed so I'll give it a full listen.
And yeah Christ, it is indeed. I'm digging it though. Hoping to make it through Hallucinogen and maybe Undreamable today! |
Hawks
11.04.25 | 15 is my fav album of theirs since Memoria Vetusta II. |
AlkemestRedux
11.04.25 | I'm pumped for it! Read the review and it sounds like it's a bit heavier and darker. |
Hawks
11.04.25 | Yeah its some twisted sounding stuff. |
trilo
11.04.25 | hopefully you dig 14 my fav BAN by far |
AlkemestRedux
11.04.25 | Oh, this is definitely some nightmare fuel on Undreamable. |
AlkemestRedux
11.04.25 | Well that does it! Those last three albums really do rule, can't wait to hear their new one. It seems like they've really dialed in both sides of their equation, the more melodic uplifting songs and then the dark, Lovecraftian soundscapes. |
Hawks
11.04.25 | Nice. M//// |
Christbait
11.05.25 | Makes me want to give their newer stuff a listen. I've dabbled here-and-there with their stuff but moved on after Hallucinogen. Thanks for the quick write-ups! Gives me a decent impression of what to look for. |
AlkemestRedux
11.05.25 | Glad they helped! Honestly I really like Hallucinogen, and it sounds like the new album will be in that vein too. But the Disharmonium albums are wild and definitely worth a listen, extremely dark. |
DoofDoof
11.05.25 | Top 20 metal band? Probably |
AlkemestRedux
11.05.25 | I'd say a hard yes haha
Definitely a cool band to listen all the way through and hear how their sound changes and also kinda keeps some of the same elements. |
DoofDoof
11.05.25 | Crazily consistent |
Hawks
11.05.25 | Definitely in my top 20-30 metal bands hard. |
Grimlin
11.05.25 | Don't skip out on Lovecraftian Echos or their EPs. Great stuff there as well |
Hawks
11.05.25 | Agreed. |
Veldin
11.05.25 | Awesome write ups man! one of my favorite metal bands and it’s so exciting to see you jam them all and enjoy them. I’m so excited for the new album |
AlkemestRedux
11.05.25 | I'll have to check out the EPs too! And Forhist is on my list as well.
And thanks Veldin! It was a blast. The new album sounds awesome, I really like their melodic albums even though their darker ones are great too. They're great for just getting lost in the same slowly shifting melodies for like five minutes at a time. |
Grimlin
11.06.25 | Eitrin is another side project of Vindsval that's worth checking. Not quite BAN level, but pretty good nonetheless |
Veldin
11.06.25 | I haven’t jammed but he’s also got Yeruselem and The Eye side projects |
