| ICED EARTH Ranked |
| 14 | | Iced Earth A Narrative Soundscape
Prison-era Burzum for chuds.
1/10 |
| 13 | | Iced Earth Plagues Of Babylon
Meh… |
| 12 | | Iced Earth Dystopia
This album is good, but there are a handful of songs i’m just not a big fan of. The new vocalist during this era is killer though. Anthem is a 10/10 song. |
| 11 | | Iced Earth Horror Show
Hot take, this has never clicked with me. I try and try and try. I like it, i just don’t care much about it in the scope of the band. I can recognize the songwriting and insane musicianship, however. |
| 10 | | Iced Earth Iced Earth
I don’t hate the vocals on this, i think they’re good in the low / mid register. But the high parts sound dreadful. It’s a shame because the riffs and songwriting on this are unbelievable |
| 9 | | Iced Earth The Glorious Burden
I don’t dig this as much as most do, but it brings the riffs, and i think Tim Owens sounds genuinely awesome on this. |
| 8 | | Iced Earth Incorruptible
There are a few tracks i’m not crazy about here, but the new vocalist KILLS it. A lot of memorable tracks on this thing. It’s derivative, but there are enough new elements to help it stand out. Ghost Dance is a top 10 Iced Earth song for me. |
| 7 | | Iced Earth The Crucible Of Man
Hot take, this album is fantastic. Barlow is back full force, and this thing is as consistent and thrilling as the band has ever been. Truly do not understand the vitriol surrounding this. |
| 6 | | Iced Earth Framing Armageddon
Another hot take. This album kicks major ass, and is probably the best thing Tim Owens has been attached to. I think it’s a bit too long, contrary to the followup, but the highs are much higher here. |
| 5 | | Iced Earth Night Of The Stormrider
Some of the best riffing you’ll ever hear. This album is damn near perfect, constantly impressive and creative, and pushes the sound from the debut to its furthest point. I think the vocals hold it back a bit. The vocals are certainly great and competent compared to that first album, i just prefer Barlow’s sound much more. |
| 4 | | Iced Earth The Dark Saga
Spawn is my favorite comic book hero, and this album kicks major ass. Love the dreary, groove / thrash focus of this one. |
| 3 | | Iced Earth Something Wicked This Way Comes
This record takes the strengths of Burnt Offerings and expands on it a bit. While i don’t prefer this, its equal, and in some spots better than that former album. |
| 2 | | Iced Earth Days Of Purgatory
Feels weird ranking this alongside full-length LPs but i think it belongs here. This compilation takes their earlier material and hammers out every flaw, adding a phenomenal vocal performance by newcomer Matt Barlow |
| 1 | | Iced Earth Burnt Offerings
Easily one of the greatest metal albums of the 90’s, and arguably of all time (if you ask me) Barlow gives an all time performance on this, and the variety and quality of the riffs is unbelievable. |
