07.31.25 | Tundra is widely disliked on Sputnikmusic because his taste is so catastrophically bad it borders on performance art. His lists are smug, contrarian for the sake of it, and drenched in the kind of self-satisfaction only someone with no sense of self-awareness could muster. Despite rating over 2,000 albums and vomiting nearly 10,000 comments onto the site, barely half of his contributions are approved, which should say everything. His “Top 100” lists read like the fever dreams of someone who discovered RateYourMusic through a Buzzfeed quiz.
The consensus is that he’s either a troll or so unironically tone-deaf that it makes no difference. His high visibility only amplifies the disdain. Every comment is a reminder of just how insufferable someone can be when they confuse volume with value. Sputnik has its fair share of elitists, but even among them, Tundra stands out as uniquely oblivious. It’s not that his opinions are different; it’s that they’re consistently and confidently wrong. |

07.31.25 | How is my taste "catastrophically bad" exactly. On this list I approve of many well knowns artists that many often deem as great. Yes, there are some curveballs on the list. But if you want to let those little things influence your judgement on my overall taste, then sure I guess. |

I think it would make more sense to distinguish this by country or city. UK and Swedish death metal are pretty different and distinct from one another and I barely know that much on European metal in general. I do this with hardcore as NY and Boston have pretty established sounds of their own for example.

07.31.25 | I don't like a lot of pure metalcore. I often find a lot of it very monotonous. Grayhaven have great clean vocals along with the heaviness as well which I like a lot about it.
The only differentiating factor to pure dm is the visual aesthetic. Production is always the same, the riffs are always the same recycled redundancies ad nauseam. I like the Frozen Soul album art and think it looks awesome. It literally helps me enjoy the album more. |

Until it gets to “bright solar inspired tone” which is just absolutely not a thing all of those things could be used to describe almost any djent band. Just say you don't like the style. It's clear that a lot of the site doesn't see the hype for it. Plini appreciation slowly dissipating over the years. No love for new Sithu Aye releases, etc. You may not find it worth its own label, but I personally find it extremely distinct. |

Thou dost not shout, nor stoop to war, thy stillness shakes the loudest core.
Evilford! O name of gold! Thy crown was neither bought nor sold.

08.02.25 | If I have to breakdown every fucking djent parts in the album then fine, here goes.
Electric Sunrise: the fucking intro, the middle sections timings are fucked in weird staccato riffage, and polymetricism.
Handmade Cities: subtly used in this song, but it is there in the final third of the song, and its obvious af.
Inhale: riff after the intro literally sounds like an Invent Animate riff, COME TF ON.
Every Piece Matters: only slightly in the outro, fair enough
Pastures: every distorted guitar riff is djentish, the middle section of the song is ONE OF THE GREATEST DJENT PASSAGES OF ALL TIME. Post-djent perfection. Obviously tesseract inspired but more uplifting (cough luminous djent)

It's way more based on the jazz-fusion/prog side of things.
Having to call every band that uses off time / polyrythmic low tuned chugs djent would be mental anyway, then Leprous is also djent lol. If Plini was based on Meshuggah heaviness like Periphery is then sure, fair play. But idk why you feel the need to call it 'luminous djent' when you can just call it prog rock / fusion with 'djent' parts.
