I feel you on the routine thing: right now my routine has been thrown pretty awry by low staffing and I can feel the other parts of my life cracking under the strain. I have a lot of good things going, sure, but I know it could be better with some stability. Hopefully in the future! |

I totally understand where you're coming from about the correlation between having a job and mental health - when I was unemployed last year and trying to land a new job, that was the lowest I’ve ever felt in my life, and getting hired and starting a new job I felt so happy. Currently unemployed and trying to finish my dissertation (very close!) — went to my uni’s career center a few months before losing funding (no desire to stay in education) and they informed me I’m overqualified for their offerings and should prepare to deliver groceries/doordash. The job market is brutal y’all. I feel betrayed |

05.15.25 | @klaus lmao reminds me of the time I went to the career centre at my very prestigious sandstone university in the final semester of my chemistry degree and the advisor there, whom can only theorise spent the weekend bingeing on Bridget Jones, suggested I try and get into the publishing industry — a notoriously easy to break into, thriving industry with lots of opportunity and relation to what I studied!
It all comes out in the wash eventually but boy that first year after graduation was fun. |

05.16.25 | I got fired 2 weeks ago. Luckily I had some work with my buddy replacing pool liners and just got an actual, stable job starting Monday. I was lucky to bounce back so quick. Its not like that a lot of times. I've been on the other end too and it sucks. |

One of the worst periods of my life mental health-wise was partially the result of getting a well paying job that was WFH (2017, ahead of its time) and barely working at all. I had zero structure in my life and quickly started spiraling.
