Entirely Different Matters
I've always struggled with Entirely Different Matters. Not because it isn't a good song, but because its the sort of song you put halfway through the album. A deflating start to Unwound's most deflating album (emotionally at least, musically speaking I'd grant Challenge the honor), Entirely Different Matters flips the script by making me crave the songs that follow it. The riff at the end of this song knocks my socks off. It's FAN-TAS-TIC. It yanks at my heart. I lose my shit when I get to it. The problem is the first two minutes are pretty pedestrian, at least by Unwound's standards. The thing Justin does right after the chorus is cool, but generally this is a pretty toothless retread of openers past.

Message Received
This is how you open an album! Intense af, punishing even, Message Received brings some of the chunkiest moments of Unwound's discography. I love this song, but at this point in the list I love all of these songs, so I unfortunately have to place this about halfway through. While that spidery chorus riff is endlessly cool, Message Received is just a little too formulaic to make it any higher. It's a great Unwound song! It's just followed by Corpse Pose!! We Invent You
Utterly haunting, We Invent You revels in Unwound's harsh stylistic turn taken with Leaves Turn Inside You. The two minutes of feedback are perfect, the riff is perfect, and Sara's drumming just takes this up another notch. 05.06.25 | In agreeance that 6 is a killer album with probably the most unmemorable opener (maybe even first two songs), and overall have to agree with this whole list except 3 may be a close tie with 1, glad to see all the "future of what is underrated" love around these parts
