Sinternet 04.03.25	dropdown menus that extend into double digit entries and/or require scrolling are pretty horrible to use but i appreciate you've put in a decent amount of effort to this. I would potentially also play around with the width of the ui as currently most of your pagetypes seem to be stretched to make use of the entire avilable area, which has little functional problems outside of making scaling the ui to mobile a bit more painful, but does make it look quite cluttered and intense. If you look to sput or rym as an example. there is a decent buffer to the left and right of the content of a page from the browser window, which helps focus your eyes towards the middle and improve readability as there's less need to scan eyes from side to side. i'm still gonna treat this as a meme but congrats i guess on the progress.

Colton 04.03.25	that's good feedback sinternet I appreciate it. I do agree that there could be more horizontal room on a lot of the pages. actually just tweaked it on the home page a bit. I think sputnik is a bit of an extreme example though, there is a ton of open space and it's a little excessive imo. also keep in mind that the videos are captured on my 14 inch laptop screen and there is a max width on a lot of the components here so the pages will have a lot more room to breathe on larger screens

I am interested in seeing what it looks like with comments/conversation. Without it currently being showcased, it looks more like a really well-made database as opposed to a place of discussion.
Futures 04.04.25	yeah another database isn't really needed with rym and sput tbh. you will never surpass either especially rym's depth. and this looks more like that. it looks a lot like aoty which is think is a terrible site lol. in your demos you haven't showcased any of the supposed social aspect. i get that is hard to accomplish though of course because rym sucks with that. just honest feedback and it's an interesting project.

Colton 04.04.25	thanks feather, glad people are liking the UI. I try to keep it light cause everything is so cluttered nowadays you guys are right that it would be really difficult to match the depth of RYM's database, and that's not really my goal. discussion will definitely be a focus. in the demo you can see there are comments sections on people's profiles, on album pages, and review pages. they just aren't populated yet. it will show new comments on the front page and I want to add the ability to reply directly to people and send notifications too. it's crazy how hard RYM fumbles the social aspect, with comment boxes being delegated to a tiny little box on the side of the screen that you have to scroll way down to even find
Colton 04.04.25	and I think other sites are really good at containing and displaying a bunch of album data but they don't really offer ways to manage your own data. that's why I worked a lot on the sorting functionality within your own ratings, and I'm gonna expand the profile pages to show more cool charts and what not aside from just pie charts it would be very cool if the site took off but even if it doesn't it will be an awesome project to put on my portfolio so I'm definitely motivated to make it as good as I can either way

I know back in the day there was some functionality for posting images in album/list threads on here but that got taken away because people abused it I guess. But I think having the ability to post images or even videos would be cool
Colton 04.04.25	yeah embedded images would definitely be nice. I will look into that for sure. I also think it would be really fun if we could have our own emojis. maybe people who are artistically inclined could contribute their own
brickhed 04.04.25	Yeah a big reason that I rarely use RYM is because sput has a better community and even then it's restricted to comments. I suggested maybe a forum feature. It doesn't have to be from the ground up, there's a lot of internet forum services like Discource (and others, but i can't think of em right now) that are pretty sleek and doesn't require that much work.
Colton 04.04.25	hmm a forum is a possibility, but I'm hoping to sort of encapsulate the functionality a forum would provide within the site itself. mostly through a more diverse post system that doesn't allow for only lists, but also blog posts, polls, etc

Colton 04.04.25	it's my first big solo project, but I have about a year and 9 months professional experience as a developer, with the last 7 months or so being mostly focused on building a new UI kit and reworking the UI for a bunch of our products. but I was mostly just given other people's designs and had to create them, this is the first major thing I designed myself
